January 13th 1648 This is the last Will and Testament of me John Denn of the Inner Temple Esq'r
Imprimis I doe bequeath unto the poor of the severall parishes of Wingham, Barham & Kingstone £10 a peice
And to the poore of the parish of Womenswould in the County of Kent 40s to be paide within a weeke after my decease

Item I doe further devise all of my lands tenements Leases goods & Chattells unto my 4 sisters which are not married, to pay my debts my Uncle Vincents debts my brother Thomas his debts together with their & every of their legacies
To have and to hold unto them and to their heires forever lying in the said County of Kent or in anie County or Counties whatsoever
Item I make my said fowre unmarried sisters sole executors of this my last Will & Testament.

Item I give Unto my now landlady Mrs Woollis & unto my cozen Avenanes wife & unto my cozen Collins his wife & him selfe five pownds a peece
Item I give to my loving friend Dr Hawtaine twenty pownds
Item I give To Nicholas Taylor my man all my wearing apparell both my swords & my third best horse
Item I give unto William Taylor my second best horse or gelding & all my ready money
Item I give To my beloved father my first best horse or gelding
Item I give Unto the aforesaid William Taylor and Nicholas Taylor all my young nursery trees
Item I give Unto my man William Chantry five pownds yearlie to be yssuinge out of all my mannors lands tenements leases & hereditaments lyinge in the said County of Kent To have and to holde unto him duringe his naturall life.
