Will of Elizabeth Denne

of Ham next Sandwich, Kent

Item I give and bequeath to grandchild David Denne five shillings of lawful money of England to be paid when he shall accomplish the full age of one and twenty years.
Item I give and bequeath to my two eldest sons James Bunce and Thomas Bunce five pounds apiece of like money to be paid within three months next after the death of Margaret Fairbrace widow the relict of my brother Sampson Fairbrace deceased or in case they or either of them happen to die before that time that then his or their legacy or legacies aforesaid to be well and truly paid to the child or children of him or them so dying equally to be divided.

Item I give and bequeath to my two eldest daughters Jane the wife of William Neame of Eastry in the said County of Kent, yeoman and Mary the wife of Robert Court of Reculver in the county aforesaid, yeoman twenty pounds apiece of like money to be paid likewise within three months next after the death of the aforesaid Margaret Fairbrace widow or in case both or either of them my said daughters chance to depart this life before that time that then her or their legacy or legacies to be well and truly paid to the child or children of her or them so dying equally to be divided.

Item I give and bequeath to my youngest daughter Elizabeth Denne one hundred pounds of lawful money of England.
Item I give and bequeath to my two eldest daughters Jane and Mary aforesaid three pairs of good sheets one long tablecloth and half a dozen of napkins and to my youngest daughter Elizabeth Denne aforenamed one feather bed and bolster and one truckle bed covertie of mine in the custody of my son James Bunce aforesaid three pairs of good sheets a long tablecloth a dozen of napkins and a silver tankard

all the residue of my goods with my lease chattels of five pounds by the year my debts legacies funeral expenses and probate of this my last will first paid and discharged I wholly give and bequeath to my youngest son Valentine Denne whom I do ordain and make sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament.

This is also the last will of me the aforesaid Elizabeth Denne, widow touching and concerning my messuage lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever

first I give and bequeath my messuage lands tenements and hereditaments with all their appertuances situate lying and being in the Parish of ... at or near a certain place there called Nackhole in the county aforesaid unto my foresaid son Valentine Denne and to his heirs forever conditionally that he his heirs or assigns immediately after the death of the foresaid Margaret Fairbrace widow do well and truly pay unto his brother Thomas Bunce aforesaid if he shall be then living the sum of ten pounds yearly during the term of his natural life quarterly to be paid by even portions.

Item I give and bequeath to my said son Valentine Denne and to his heirs for ever my annuity of three pounds by the year granted to me by James Wise of Charing in the county aforesaid yeoman out of his messuage lands tenements and hereditaments situate lying and being in the Parishes of Stalisfield and Eastling in the said County of Kent as appears by a pairs of indentures thereof made bearing date the four and twentieth day of June last past before the date hereof.

In witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Denne widow unto this my last Will and Testament have set my hand and seal the eighth and twentieth day of October in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fifty and five and then also published and declared the same to be my last Will and Testament. The mark of Elizabeth Denne, widow in the presence of
the mark of Anthony Millen and Robert West.

This will was proved at London before the Judges for probate of wills and granting administrations lawfully authorised the fourteenth day of July in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fifty and eight by the oath of Valentine Denne son and sole Executor or the said deceased in the said will named to whom administration of all the goods chattels and debts of the said deceased was committed he being first sworn by commission truly to administer the same.
