Imprimis I give and devise all that my messuage or tenement land and appertuances thereunto belonging at ? in Herne aforesaid and which I lately purchased of Mr Edward Hayward of Canterbury I give and devise the same unto my cousin Abraham Landon of Herne aforesaid and to his heirs forever he paying out thereof the annuity and legacies hereafter mentioned to be paid out of the same viz.
the sum of three pounds a year I give out of the said premises unto my wife Elizabeth for and during the term of her natural life. In case she survive and outlive one to be paid her and her assigns on or upon the four most usual feast Days the Nativity of Christ commonly called Xmas the Annunciation of the blessed Virgin Mary, St John the Baptist commonly called Midsummer Day and St Michael the Archangel by even and equal portions quarterly to be paid the first payment to be made on or upon that of the said feast days which shall first happen after my decease.
Item I give the sum of six pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to the three
children of Ann sister of the said Abraham Landon late of Sandwich deceased viz. Thomas William and Jane
Fremley to be equally divided between them or the survivors of them that shall live to attain the age of twenty
years and to be paid them as they respectively accomplish that age.
Item I give the like sum of six pounds to the three children of Anthony Landon of Barham
(brother of the said Abraham Landon) viz. to be equally divided
between them or the survivors of them and paid at their respective age of twenty years.
Item I give and bequeath unto Anne daughter of the said Abraham Landon by his late wife Mary deceased the sum of five pounds of like
lawful money to be paid by her said father when she shall attain to the age of twenty years.
All which said annuity to my said wife and all other the legacies above mentioned are given and bequeathed out of the tenement land and premises unto my said cousin Abraham Landon and his heirs devised and I do hereby give full power and authority to my said wife Elizabeth and all any or so many of the said legacies unto when default of payment shall happen to enter into and upon the said tenement lands and premises and the same to detain and keep until payment of the said annuity legacy or legacies be made according to the true intent and meaning of this my last Will and Testament.
Item I give and bequeath unto my said wife Elizabeth the sum of five pounds to be paid her at one
month after my decease.
Item I give all my household goods and utensils to the said Abraham Landon and my said
wife Elizabeth to be equally divided them share and share alike.
Item I give and bequeath the sum of forty shillings
to be equally divided among all the children of my cousin Susan wife of James Gibbons to be paid unto each of
them that shall live and as they shall respectively attain the age of twenty years.
Item I give and bequeath the sum
of five pounds to be equally divided among all the children of my cousin Anne wife of David Horton to be paid
unto each of them that shall live and as they shall respectively attain to the age of twenty years.
Item I give the like
sum of five pounds to be equally divided among all the children of my wife�s daughter Elizabeth the wife of
Stephen Bradley(?) to be paid unto each of them that shall live to and as they respectively attain to the age twenty
years.
And in case my personal estate at my decease do not hold out and amount to enough over and above the household goods and utensils to my wife and the said Abraham Landon bequeathed (funeral charges debts and legacy to my said wife) to pay the three last legacies of five pounds to Bradley�s children five pounds to Horton�s children and forty shillings to Gibbon�s children then my will and meaning is that they shall above all of them in proportion of what shall be so wanting in ? ? ? ? and above the said legacy household goods and utensils).
Item I make constitute and appoint my said cousin Abraham Landon sole Executor of this my said last Will and Testament willing and requiring him to pay all my just debts annuity and legacies by me bequeathed and as the same shall become due and payable and to bury me in a decent manner and do also give unto my said Executor (after funeral charges paid) all the rest and residue of my goods chattels and estate both real and personal and to his heirs forever.
In witness whereof I the said Peter Denne have unto this my last Will and Testament (revoking
all former wills by me made) set my hand and seal the nine and twentieth day of November in the third year of the
Reign of our Sovereign Lord George now King of Great Britain etc Ano Domini 1716, the mark of Peter Denne
the Testator. Signed sealed pronounced and declared after the interlining of (funeral charges debts and legacies to
my said wife) by the said Peter Denne to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who subscribed our
names as witnesses at the request and in the presence of the Testator
