Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my dear and loving wife Elizabeth Denne the
sum of four hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain over and above what I settled on her on
my marriage with her.
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Denne the sum of four hundred
pounds of like lawful money to be paid him at his age of one and twenty years or day of marriage
which shall first happen by my Executors hereafter named.
Item I give and bequeath to my son John Denne the sum of three hundred pounds and to my
daughter Elizabeth Denne the like sum of three hundred pounds to be paid unto them
respectively at their respective ages of one and twenty years or days of marriage which shall
first happen by my Executors hereafter named.
Item I give and bequeath to such child or children as my said wife is now big of (in case she be with child) the sum of two hundred pounds of like lawful to be paid to such child or children at his her or their age of one and twenty years or day of marriage which shall first happen by my Executors hereafter named but in case such child or children as my wife is big of shall die before his her or their age of one and twenty years or day of marriage or in case my said wife happen not to be now with child then I give and bequeath the said two hundred pounds unto my said children John Denne and Elizabeth Denne equally to be divided between them share and share alike.
Item whereas I lately purchased to me and my heirs a messuage and lands in Herne(?) in the County of Kent subject to a mortgage thereof of two hundred and fifty pounds or some such sum and whereas my sister Anne Wood is indebted unto me in the sum of three hundred pounds principal money besides interest now I do hereby give and devise the said messuage and lands unto my nephews John Wood and Thomas Wood their heirs and assigns for ever she my said sister Anne Wood or my said nephews John and Thomas Wood paying and discharging the said three hundred pounds and interest due to me as aforesaid.
Item I do appoint my said wife Guardian to my said children desiring her to educate and bring them up with the interest of their fortunes herein before given them.
Item all the rest and residue of my goods, chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever (after my debts legacies and funeral expenses and other incident charges are paid and discharged) I give and bequeath unto my said children Thomas, Elizabeth and John Denne and unto the child or children that my said wife is now big of equally to be divided among them share and share alike and to be paid unto them at their respective ages of one and twenty years or days of marriage which shall first happen.
Item I do hereby make ordain constitute and appoint my said loving wife Elizabeth and my said son Thomas Denne and my nephew John Wootton of Sturry to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do give and bequeath unto the said John Wootton the sum of twenty pounds is case he proves my will and takes upon him the ? and execution of the Executorship thereof.
And I do hereby revoke frustrate and make void all former and other wills
by me at any time heretofore made and do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and
Testament. In witness whereof to this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of paper I
have to the first sheet set my hand and to this last sheet my hand and seal this twelfth day of April in
the twelfth year of the Reign of his Majesty King George of Great Britain of and in the year of our
Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty six. Valentine Denne. Signed sealed published and
declared by the said Valentine Denne as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who
subscribed our names as witnesses hereunto in the presence of the said Valentine Denne.
