In the name of god Amen : in the yeare of our Lord 1610 in the first day of May in the eyght yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord James by the grace of god Kynge of England, Frannce & Ireland, defender of the fayth &c & of Scotland the three & fortieth :
I Richard Elmestone of the parishe of Boughton Malherbe in the Countye of Kent Clerke, being well in bodye & of good & perfecte remembrannce (god be praysed therfore) doe ordeyne & make this my last will & Testament in manner & forme followeinge :
First (as much as in me is) I bequeth my Sowle into the handes & tuityon of almightie god, trustinge assuredly by his mercie & by the death & passion of our Saviour Jhesus Christ to obteyne remyssion & forgivenesse of all my synnes : And when it shall please god to take me out of this lyfe, my body to be buryed in the Churchyarde of Boughton above written :

Item I will & bequeth unto the three children of my Sister Anne Badnor deceased to every one of them 3s 4d
Item I will & bequeth unto my daughter Ann Dysborough �5 to be payd to her within one yeare next after my decease yf shee be then lyveinge
Item I will & bequeth unto Henry Elmestone (the sonne of my sonne Nicholas) fortie shyllynges to be payd by myn Executor within one yeare next after my decease :

Item I will & bequeth unto Marye Packham the wyddowe of John Packham fyve shyllynges to be payd within one yere next after my decease
Item I will & bequeth unto Ann Elmestone (the daughter of my sonne Nicholas) thirtie poundes to be payd unto her presently after my decease
Item I will & bequeth unto the daughters (of my sonne Solomon) fowerscore poundes equally to be devyded betwene them
Item I will unto Nicholas Elmestone & Richard Elmestone (the sonnes of my sonne Solomon) to eche of them 20s
Item I will unto Richard Elmestone the sonne (of my sonne Erasmus) 20s
Item I will unto Richard Gorham the (sonne of wyddowe Gorham) & Richard Reede my godsonnes to eache of them 3s 4d

Item my will & meanynge is that my bookes shalbe devyded into two partes & the one part therof I give & bequeth unto my sonne Dysboroughe & my sonne Edward Elmestone equally to be devided betwene them
And the other part of my sayd bookes I give & bequeth unto my other two sonnes Erasmus & Solomon equally to be devyded betwene them

Item I will & bequeth unto my sonne Edward one fetherbedd & one coverlett, one blankette, one Boulster, one payer of sheetes & one pyllowe
Item I will & bequeth unto my two sonnes Erasmus & Solomon all my workeinge toles equally to be devyded betwene them
Item I will unto my sayd sonne Erasmus my my----nerne (page torn) & fornace

The residue of all my houshould stuffe unbequethed I gyve unto my fyve children : Erasmus, Edward, Solomon, Ann & Elizabeth equally to be devyded betwene them

Item I will & bequeth unto the poore people of Boughton Malherbe aforesayd 20s to be distributed at the discretion of my sonne Erasmus which sayd Erasmus I do ordeyne & make my sole executor & I will unto hym for his paynes 20s over & besydes all charges which he shalbe at about the execution of this my last will & testament

Item I will unto Edward Buckman for his paynes 10s & to my goddaughter (William Smythes wife) 10s

In witnesse whereof I have caused this to be written & have here unto sett myn hand & seale the day & yeare first above written
