In the name of God Amen, the One and Twentith day of december Anno Domini 1612 And in the Tenth yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord James by the grace of God of England, Frannce and Ireland King defender of the faith &c and of Scotland the Six and fortith,
I William Elmestone, Citizen and Girdler of London, being weake in body but of sownde and perfect memory (pariase be Almightie God therefore) doe oreyne and make this my last will and testament in manner and forme following
First and principally I commend my soule into the handes of Almightie God my Creator hopeing and assuredly beleeving that through the merittes, death and passion of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer I shall have Free remission & forgivenesse of all my sinnes and be made an Inheritour of the heavenly Jerusalem
And my body to be buryed at the discretion of myne executor hereafter named

Item I give and bequeath unto the poore people of Maidstone in the Countie of Kent Five poundes of lawfull money of England to be paid unto them at the discretion of myne executor
Item I give & bequeath unto the poore people of Rayneham in the said County the summe of Five powndes of like money of the which my mynde is that the widdow Bell shall have tenn shillinges and the widdow Butler tenn shillinges and the residue thereof to be paid at the discretion of myne Executor

Item I give unto M Goodane of Maidstone Fortie shillinges
Item unto M Chambers of Loose Fortie shillinges
Item unto Mr Case of Boxley Fortie shillinges
Item unto Mr Wyng of Strood, preaste, Fortie shillinges
Item unto Mr Carr of Maidstone Twenty shillinges
Item I give unto my Aunt Clarcke of Bersted Three powndes
Item I give unto Randall Ippingbury of Maidstone Three powndes
Item I give unto William Emiott of Maidstone Twenty shillinges and to his wife Twenty shillinges
Item unto my brother Clement Mellaway Twenty shillinges and unto his wife Twenty shillinges
Item unto Roberte Wood of Maidstone Twenty shillinges and to his wife Twenty shillinges
Item I give unto my three Godchildren viz William Baker, Elizabeth Wood & the daughter of James Field of Rayneham to either of them Thirteene shillinges foure pence to buy them spoones
Item I give unto Mr John Darrell of London Twenty shillinges and unto his wife Twenty shillinnges
Item unto Mr William Ayerst of London Twenty shillinges
Item unto John Pilgrym of Rochester Twenty shillinges
Item unto my nephewe John Kemsley Twenty shillinges to buy him a bible

Item unto my Cosen Backe of Rayneham Twenty shillinges and to her two children by her husband Young deceassed, to either of them Twenty shillinges to be payd unto them at their severall ages of eighteen yeares
Item unto my Cosen Clarke of Rayneham Twenty shillinges and to her three children by her husband Clarke deceassed, Twenty shillinges to either of them to be payd unto them at their severall ages of eighteen yeares
Item unto Edmund Hope of Maidstone Twenty shillinges and unto his wife Twenty shillinges
Item unto Marryon Willard wyddow Twenty shillinges
Item unto Mrs Tutesham the wife of Mr Richard Tuttesham Twenty shillinges

Item I give and bequeath unto my Sister Margarett Hubberd widdow, the summe of One hundred powndes of lawfull money of England to be paid unto her at the first payment which shalbe receyved for the lands which I have appoynted to be sould. Also I give and bequeath unto my saide sister Margarett Hubberd all my househould stuffe now being in my dwelling house, except my wearing Apparrell, one Chest and one Trunk

Item I give and bequeath unto Allyce, Margaret and Anne Hubberd, daughters of my saide sister Margarett Hubberd, to either of them Thirty powndes to be paid unto them at their several ages of Twenty yeares And if anie of them shall happen to deceasse before that shee shall attayne her saide Age of Twnety yeares, then I will and devise that the porcon or porcons of her or them soe deceassing shall go & remayne unto my Executor
And I doe further will and declare that my intent & meaning is that my Executor shall yerely paye unto the said Allyce, Margaret & Anne or unto the said Margaret their Mother to their behoofes twenty shillinges a peece untill they shall atteyne their said severall ages of twenty yeares

Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Dorothie Baker, the wife of John Baker, the summe of Fifty powndes of lawfull money of England to be paide unto her at the First payment which shalbe receaved for the sale of my said landes which saide Fifty powndes soe by me given and bequeathed unto my saide sister shall have the ordering and disposeing thereof at her will and pleasure without the controllment of her said husband

Item I give and bequeath unto my said brother in law John Baker the summe of Ten powndes of lawfull money of England upon Condicon that he the said John Baker shall and doe assure unto Dorothie Baker his wife my sister, her dwelling in the house wherein hee the said John now dwelleth in Weavering streete within the parishe of Boxley, if shee the said Dorothie shall survive and overlyve him the said John, to be enioyed by her during her naturall life frely without paying anie rent therefore. And also upoon condicon that hee the said John Baker shall permitt and suffer her the said Dorothie to order and dispose of the said Fiftie powndes before by mee to her given and bequeathed at her will and pleasure.

Item I give and bequeath unto John Baker sonne of my said Brother in law Ten powndes to be paid unto him at his age of One and Twenty yeares
Item unto Thomas Baker one other of the sonnes of my said Brother & sister, Tenn powndes to bee paid unto him at his age of One and Twenty yeares
Item unto Henry Baker, Tenn powndes to be paid unto him at his age of One and Twenty yeares
Item unto William Baker, Tenn pounds to be paid unto him at his age of One and Twenty yeares
Item unto Sara Baker Tenn powndes to be paide unto her at her age of Twenty yeares
Item I give and bequeath unto the Child which my said Sister Baker now goeth, which all Tenn powndes to be paide at the age of Twenty yeares

And if it shall happen any of my saide Sister Bakers children to deceasse before their said porcon shall be due to be paide by this my said testament, Then I will and devise that the porcon or porcons of him, her or them so deceassing shalbe & remayne to my said Executor

Item I give unto my Brother John Elmestone the summe of Forty powndes of lawfull money of England, hee paying for the same unto my sister Anne Elmeston yearely during her naturall life the summe of Foure powndes
Also I give and bequeath unto the said John Elmestone my brother other Forty powndes, hee paying for the same yearly to the pore people of the parishe of Rayneham aforesaid foure pownds during his naturall lief

The residue of my goodes and Chattells I give and bequeath unto the said John Elmestone my brother whom I make sole Executor of this my present testament, hee paying my debts and legacies aforesaid and seeing my body with decently brought to the grave.

And I ordeyne and make my welbeloved friendes William Emyott and Robert Wood of Maidstone aforesaid Overseers of this my last will and testament, desireing them to be ayding and assisting unto my saide Executor in the performance thereof

This is the last will and testament of mee the said William Elmestone made and declared the day and yeare above written, touching the disposition of all my lands and tenements

First I doe will and devise and my mynde is that my saide Executor shall very shortly after my death sell all my landes and tenements in Iwade in the said County of Kent (if I deceasse before the same be soulde and assured by my self) for the better performance of my said testament and the payment of the legacies therein by me given and bequeathed

The residue of my landes, tenements and hereditaments whatsoever I give and bequeath unto the saide John Elmestone my brother and to his heires and assignes for ever

In witnesse whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name ane put my seale and published this to be my last will and testament in the presence of us whose names are hereunder written
