In the Name of God Amen The first day of May One Thousand six hundrd Fyfte Two
I William Elnor of the p[ar]ish of Ickham in the County of Kent Yeoman thought [though!] weake of body yet of p[er]fect remembrance (the Lord be praysed for yt and for all other his blessings bestowed upon mee) doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testam[en]t in Manner and forme following
First I bequeath my Soule into the hands of Almighty God assuring my selfe by the death and Resurection of Jesus Christ to have full pardon and forgivenes of all my synnes, and by noe other meanes And my body to be decently buryed in the Church yard of the p[ar]ish of Ickham at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named, And as for my Worldly goods I give them as followeth

Imprimis I Wyll give and bequeath unto my beloved wyffe Anne Ellnor all the houshould stuffe that is within my howse wherein I now dwell with my Cow and all other such lyveing Cattells as shalbe myne at the day of my death for and during the Terme of hir Naturall lyffe And all those goods and Chattells my Wyll and meaning is shalbe aprized unto there full and true vallew imediatly after my decease
And after the decease of Anne my wyffe shalbe remayne and be given to Elizabeth Fuller her daughter For and in Consideracon of so much of hir portion as they shalbe prized [appraised] unto by my Executor hereafter named

Item I also will and give unto Anne my wyffe Twelve pounds a yeare of Currant English mony to be paid unto hir quarterly duringe the Tearme of hir Naturall lyffe (that is to say) Three pounds a quarter, And the first payment of Three pounds to begyne The Munday three months next after my decease and so after Every Three Monthes during the Tearme of his Naturall lyffe by my Executor hereinafter named

Item I Wyll and give unto my daughter Catheryne the wyffe of Abraham Proyer Five shillings of Currant English mony to be payd unto hir within one Month next after my decease by my Executor hereafter named
Item I give unto William Ellnor and Jane Ellnor the Children of my Son William Ellnor deceased Five shillings a peece of like lawfull mony to be payd unto them within one Month after my decease by my Executor hereafter named
Item I give unto my daughter Mary the wyffe of Even Beanne One hundred pounds of Currant English mony to be payd unto hir within three months after my decease by my Executor hereafter named

Item I wyll and give unto my daughter Margaret Ellnor One hundred and Five pounds of Currant English mony to be payd unto hir within three months after my decease by my Executor hereafter named
But yf it shall happen that the sayd Margret Ellnor shall lett hir sayd Legacie of one hundred and five pounds before given her in this my Wyll to rest and remayne in the hands of myne Executor for the space of one year or more after the tyme sett on which as aforesayd yt is to be payd Then my Wyll and meaninge is that my Executor shall pay hir Fower pounds a yeare quarterly (that is to say) Twenty shillings a quarter and the first payment of Twenty Shillings to be made and payd hir the Monday three Months after the tyme aforesayd that the Sayd Legacye is due and payable and so forth Every Munday three Monthes so longe as yt remaynes in his hands and unpayd

Item all the rest of my Moveable goods and Chattells whatsoever unbequeathed in this my Wyll, After my Creditors be satisfyed my Legacyes paid, my funerall Expenses and the probate of this my Wyll discharged, I will and give unto Thomas Fuller my sonne in lawe whom I doe make and ordaine to be my whole and Sole Executor of this my last Wyll and Testament

This is the last Wyll and Testament of me William Ellnor of the said p[ar]ish of Ickham in the County of Kent Yeoman made and declared the day and yeare first above wrytten of all my howses and Lands, Orchard and Gardens with all and Singular the buyldings and hereditaments thereunto belonginge Scituate and being in the pish of Ickham aforesayd

Item I Wyll and give unto Thomas Fuller my sonne in law all those my howses, Lands, Orchards and Gardens withall and Singular the buyldings & hereditam[en]ts whatsoever thereunto belonginge to him and his heires for Ever
upon Condicon that hee shall pay all my debts and Legacyes which I have before given in this my Wyll and pay and discharge my funerall Expens and the probate of this my Wyll

And also shall have respect to the Entering bringing up and governing of William Ellnor the sonne of my sonne William deceased yf so be that hee wilbe Entered Governed and Ruled ..... yf not my Wyll and meaning us that he shall have noe benefitt or proffytt att all by thes [this] my Wyll nor any proffytt or benifytt by the Lease of the Spyttle lands belonging to the hospitall of poore Preest which I have heretofore assigned over unto him when as hee should accomplish the age of one and Twenty yeares

And furthermore my Wyll and true meaning ys that all the sayd guyfte [gift] and Legacyes which I have heretofore given in this my Wyll shalbe payd by my Executor before mentioned and att the dayes and tymes before Specyfyed in this my Wyll But yf yt shall so happen to come to passe that all or any of these Legacyes wch I have heretofore given in this my Wyll be not payd at and according to the dayes and tymes aforesayd menconed in this my Wyll and being lawfully demaunded and that of him of whom of right as aforesayd yt ought to be payd
That then and from thenceforth yt shall and may be lawfull to and for them or any of them to whom those Legacyies are given their heires Execut[o]rs or assigns Into all and Every the pr[e]misses which I have before given and into all and every p[ar]te thereof to enter and distraine and the distres or distresses there so had and taken to leade drive beare and Cary away, and the same to with onto detaine and keepe Impounded and unrepledgable * untill the said Legacy or Legacyes, guift or guifts be unto him hir or them fully satisfyed Contented and payd with the Charge thereof that shall thereby aryse yf any shall so happen for to be

And now am I at quiet assuringe my selfe that when death hath seased on this my body my soule shall rest in peace with Christ my Saviour
And I doe publish this to be my last Wyll and Testam[en]t which is heere wrytten ye Comp... and distance of two Sheets of pap[er] Revoking and making void all former Wylles that I have heretofore made
And I doe ordaine and publish this to be my last will and Testament

This Wyll was proved at London before Sr. Nathaniel Brent Knt. Doctor of Laws, Mr. & Judg of the Prerogative Court etc. The nynth day of September One Thousand Six hundred and Fifty Two by the Oath of Thomas Fuller Sole Executor To whome was Comytted Administration etc. hee being first Sworne by Comicon [Commission] truly to Administer etc. Exd.

Notes:
William Elnor was buried at St. John, Ickham on 5th May 1652.
Widdow Elnor the relict of Willm. Elnor the Elder was buried there on 3rd December 1652.
Daughter Mary Elnor married Stephen Beane 13th November 1651 at St. John, Ickham.
* Unrepledgeable – not a known word. To repledge was first used in 1751 as in “repledged their support for the candidate” – i.e. confirmed their pledge.
