In the name of God Amen The first day of October One thowsand six hundred forty nyne
I Daniell Emptage of the parish of Saint Lawrence in the Isle of Thanett in the County of Kent Yeoman being sick in body but sound in memory doe make and ordaine this to be my last will and testament in manner following And I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried according to the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named

Item I give and bequeath to the poore people of the said parish of Saint Lawrence the sume of one pound of lawfull money of England to (be) paid and delivered unto them within one month next ensueing the day of my death and to be distributed amongst them at the discretion of my Executor

Item I give and bequeath to the children of my brother Jeffry Emptage the sume of forty shillings of lawfull money of England to be paid also and equally distributed betweene them within one moneth after my decease

Item I give into Mary Freind Widd [Widow] the sume of tenn pounds of lawfull money of England t be paid unto her within one moneth after my decease
Also I give unto the said Mary Freind halfe a quarter of wheat and halfe a quarter of barley and also such weareing apparrell of linnen and wollen as I lately made made [as written] for her Also which last bequeathed Legacie my minde is shalbe delivered unto the said Mary Freind by my Executors within one moneth after my decease

And my mynde and will is that shee the said Mary Freind shall have and delivered unto her within one moneth ensueing my death All such household stuffe as now remaine and shalbe at the time of my death in my dwelling howse which she the said Mary cann clayme to be her owne to dispose of at her pleasure

Item all the rest of my goods Chattells and ready money (the before mentond [mentioned] Legacies paid, debts, Funerall expences and probat of this my will discharged I give and bequeath to my loveing sonns Thomas Emptage and Daniell Emptage to be paid unto them by my Executors by equall portions as they and either of them shall attaine and come to their severall ages of one and twenty yeares and if any of them happen to dye before the said age Then the part and portion of the deceased to be paid to the Survivor of them at the age abovesaid

And my will is that my Executor hereafter named shall allow unto my said sonns Thomas Emptage and Daniell Emptage the sume of five pounds a peece yearely for and towards their maintenance till they and either of them attaine the abovesaid age

Lastly I doe make and ordaine my loveing brothers John Emptage of the Parish of Saint Nicholas within the said Isle of Thannet and Gilbert Dad of the said parish of St. Lawrence Yeomen Executors of this my last will and testament revoking all former wills by me made

This is the last will and testament of me the said Daniell Emptage made and declared the day and yeare above written

My minde and will is that the above named Mary Freind shall have delivered her for the barley she layed in my barne two quarters of good barly (besides the above menconed halfe quarter) within a quarter of a yeare after my death she relenting? to my saide Executors her right to the said Barly shee imbarned? as aforesaid
