Will of Edward Everest

This is the last Will and Testament of me Edward Everest the Elder of Saint Pauls Cray in the County of Kent Yeoman
First I commend my immortal soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named

And I order and direct that all my just debts and my funeral and testamentary expences shall be paid and satisfied as soon as may be after my decease
And I nominate and appoint my friend Mr Henry Child of Rood Lane London wine Merchant and my son Edward Everest Executors of this my Will

Also I give and devise unto my son the said Edward Everest all that my messuage or tenement with the barn stable hopkiln and other outbuildings and about eight acres of land be the same more or less thereunto belonging situate and being in the Parish of Saint Pauls Cray aforesaid in the County of Kent and now in my own occupation To hold the same unto the said Edward Everest his heirs and assigns for ever

Also I give & bequeath to my dear daughter Ann Lake the wife of Benjamin Lake the sum of two hundred and ten pounds of lawful money of Great Britain in addition to the sum of one hundred pounds which I have already advanced to her

and to my dear daughter Sarah Cripps the wife of Charles Cripps the sum of three hundred and ten pounds of like lawful money
and to my dear daughter Amy Lawrence the wife of George Lawrence the sum of three hundred and ten pounds of like lawful money
and to my son Thomas Everest the sum of two hundred pounds of like lawful money
and to my son John Everest the sum of two hundred pounds
in addition to what I have heretofore advanced to my said last two mentioned sons

And to my grand daughter Elizabeth Child now residing with me the sum of fifty pounds of like lawful money
all which said legacies I order and direct shall be paid to my said legatees within six months next after my decease

And all the rest and residue of my monies securities for money stock in the public funds stock on my Farm household goods and other goods corn hay cattle and husbandry geer whatsoever and wheresoever I do give and bequeath the same and every part thereof subject to the payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expences and the legacies before by me given unto my son the said Edward Everest to and for his own use and benefit

hereby revoking all other Wills and Codicils by me at any time heretofore made I declare this only to be my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I the said Edward Everest the Testator have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the nineteenth day of November in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventeen Ed. Everest
