Item I give to the poore people of Challock aforesaid xxs [20 shillings]
Item I give unto my two eldest sonnes Thomas Farbrase and Sampson Farbrase Five shillings a piece
The like sume I do give to evry [every] one of my three eldr daughters, that is to say,
Elizabeth the Widow of Valentine Denne, Sara the wife of Anthony Wanstall and Mary the wife of Henry Gylbert
Item I give and bequeath unto Richard Farbrase my youngest sonne & unto his heires for ever One Messuage or Tenemt. wth [Tenement with] the Barne & other Buildings, the Orchard and Close, and also Six other pieces or pcells [parcels] of land meadow and pasture wthall [withall] & Singular their app'tenances, unto the sd. Messuage or Tenemt. belonging contayning in all, by estimation Thirteene Acres of land more or lesse called by the name of Finkins (or Jinkins?) scituate lying and being in the p'ish of Wy [Wye] in the County aforesid [aforesaid] & in the present Tenure & occupation of Nicholas Searles or of his assignes
Alsoe I give and bequeath unto him the sd. Richard my Sonne & to his heires for ever one other piece or pcell of land being fresh Marshland contayneng by estimation Eleven acres more or lesse, lying and being in the pish of Warehorne in the County aforesd. & in the present Tenure & occupation of his Brother Thomas Farbrase aforesd., Conditionally that hee do pay unto Jane his mother my present Wife, the yearly Rent of Tenne Pounds (of) good English mony [money] to be issuing and going forth & out of the sd. Messuage or Tenemt. & all the lands, Tenemts. & hereditamets [hereditaments] wth their apptenaces soe bequeathed unto him as is aforessd. at foure of the most usuall Feasts of the yeare, that is to say, of the Annunciation of Saint Mary the Virgine, of St. John Baptist, and of Michaell the Archangell and of the Nativitie of our Saviour Christ, by even & equall portions to be payd during the Terme of her naturall life The first paymnt. [payment] thereof to beginne on that Feast of the foresd. Feasts wch [which] shall next happen after my decease
And for default of paymt. of the yearely Rent of Tenne pounds above Fourteene dayes after any Feast of the foresd. Feasts, it shall and may be lawfull to and for the foresd. Jane my wife & her assignes, into the foresd. Messuage or Tenemt. & all other the premisses & into every or any part or parcell thereof soe given & bequeathed unto him the sd. Richard my Sonne, to enter & distreigne [distrain] and the distresses there found & taken lawfully from thence, to carry, lead, drive & have away and the same to impound, impound to detaine and keepe, untill the sd. yearely rent soe behinde & unpayed togeather wth the arreares thereof, if any hapen,shall be fully satisfyed, contented and payd.
Item I give and bequeath unto Jone Farbrase my youngest daughter the sume of one hundred & seaven pounds of good English mony, whensoever the same shall happen to be payd by Thomas Smith of Willesborough in the County aforesaid yeoman or his heires, executors, administrators or assigns , according to a Lease made to me, by the said Thomas Smith, as by a paper of Indenture thereof bearing date the 17th day of October Ao dini. 1631 more fully & at large appeareth, togeather wth the said Indenture of Lease & the Terme of yeares hereby conditionally granted, and all my right, title & interest therein, according to an endorsemt. on the backeside of the said Indenture, bearing the date of this my present Testamt.
Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jone, Twentie pounds more, wch the said Thomas Smith oweth me by his Bond, conditionally, that shee do pay unto her Sister Jane Farbrase Five pounds, wthin one halfe yeare after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto Jane my sd. wife all my household stuffe, of what condition soever it be, at her will & pleasure to use & dispose of. But in case shee dispose not of it in her life time, then my will intent & meaninge is, the same or soe much of the same, as shall remaine at her death undisposed of by her shall be equally divided amongst three of my children aforenamed (that is to say) Richard, Jane & Jone
Item I give unto my sd. daughter Jane Twenty pounds whereof Tenne pounds is in the hands of
William Wells of Wy in the County aforesaid kersymaker as appeareth by his Bond, the other Tenne
pounds is owing mee by my sd. sonne Thomas
And alsoe all other my goods cattell & chattell (my debts, legacies, Fuunerall expences & probate of
this my Will first payd & discharged) I give wholy & altogether unto my sd. daughter Jane, whom I
make sole Executrix of this my present Testamt.
And I do constitute & appoint my Sonne Thomas aforesd. Overseer of the same, to direct & assist her in her due execution hereof,
utterly revoking & disanulling all former Willes by me at any time heretofore made
In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seale the Five & Twentyeth day of Aprill, in the
Thirteenth yeare of the Reigne of our most gracious Sovereigne Lord Charles, by the grace of God, of
England Scotland, France and Ireland, king, defendr [defender] of the Faith etc. A. Din. 1637.
