Made the ixth daye of August, In the yeare of our Lorde god 1585
In the name of God Amen, I John Feriar of the Towne and porte of Sandwich in the Countie of Kent yeoman, beynge sycke in bodye but thanckes be to god in perfecte memorie, doe make my laste will and testament in manner and forme as followeth
First I bequeath my soule into the handes of Allmightie god In whome by the death and bloudsheadynge of my lorde and saviour Jesus Christ I hope to be saved And my bodye to bee buried at the discreatione of myne executrickes and overseers when soever yt shall please god to call me owte of this transsetorie life. As concernynge my worldlye goods

I will and bequeath unto Ezechiell Feriar my eldest sonn fortie powndes to be paid unto him at the age of xxj yerares,
Also I will and bequeath unto Samawell Feriar my seconde sonn fortie powndes to be paid to him at the age of xxj yeares
Also I will and bequeath unto Ananvell Feriar my thirde sonn fortie powndes to be paid to him at the age of xxj yeares,
Also I will and bequeath unto John Feriar my yongest sonn fortie powndes to be paid to him at xxj yeares of age

Also I will yf that Ezechiell Feriar or Samawell Feriar or Ananvell Feriar or John Feriar theise my fowre sonnes shalll happen to desease before they come to the age of xxj years then I will the portione or portiones of him or them deseassed to be equallye devided and paid unto those my children which doe remayne thier survivers
But yf is shall please god to take awaye all my fowre sonnes before they come to the age of xxj yeares then I will that theire portions shall remaine and be paide to my brother William Feriar And to my sistar patience Ferriar and to theire heires for evar

Also I will and bequeath unto my brother William Feriar three powndes to be paid to him two yeares aftar my dissease yf hw so longe lyve
Also I will and bequeath unto my sistar Patience Feriar fortie shillinges to be paid to hir at the daye of her mariage or at hyr age of xxiiij heares yf shee so longe lyve
Also I will and bequeath unto John Evuto my first wives sonn three powndes to be paid to him at the age of xxiiij yeares yf he so longe lyve
Also I will and bequeath unto Agnis Maidlye my wives mother twentie shillinges to be paid to her two yeares Aftar my dissease yf shee so longe lyve

Also I will that Margaret Feriar my wife shall keepe and brynge upp my children In learninge to write and two reade As of all other necesaries belongynge to them, to be at hyr onelye charges untyll they be eyther of them at the age of xiiij yeares In consideration theireof I will that Margaret Feriar my wife shall have the use and occupacion of my childrens goodes which I have bequeathed them untyll they fowre come severallye to the age of xxj yeares

As tuchinge my howse and landes Lyinge and Beynge in the parishe of St Peters Chappostell in the yle of Thanet I will that in three yeares aftar my dyssease that yt shall be sowlde by mine executrickes to the best vallue towarde the performance and paimentes of my debtes and Lagases

All the Reste of my goodes movables and Immovables my debtes and Leagases beynge performed and paid my will is that Margaret Feriar my wife shall have them all
So that shee putt in sufficient bond to mine overseers Mathew Minice of the Towne of Sandwich and William Hunt Jurat of the Towne - or to any one of them for the performance of thiese my leagases before shee bee maried which yf shee doe not performe lykewise the same then I will that Margaret Feriar shall lease the comoditie of theise my goodes of me bequeathed

In wittnese hereof to this my last will and Testament I doe make my wife Margarett Ferear my sole executrickes and Mathew Minice Jurat and William Hunt Juratt mine overseers as aforesaid for the which cause I give to eyther of them x s apece

In wittnes hereof I the said John Feriar have sett to my hand the daye and yeare above written. by me John Fereyer
