In the name of God Amen I Nicholas Fowle of the p[ar]ish of St. Mary of Northgate in the Citty of Canterbury, Baker haveing beene long since weake and ill in body but by the mercy of my mercifull God still continueing in good sense and memory doe for the avoyding of striffe after my decease make and ordaine this my Last will and testament in manner and forme following
First I resigne my soul unto God that gave itt, and my Body to the dust whereof it was made to bee decently interred at the discrecon of my Executrix hereafter named And as touching that worldly estate whereof God hath made mee a Steward in this life I bequeath it as followeth

I give unto the poore of said pish of Northgate the sume of twenty shillings to be given them in Bread on the day of my funerall
Item I give unto my sons John Fowle and Nicholas Fowle and to my daughter Mary Fowle the sume of Fortie pounds a peece of good mony to be paid unto them and every of them within six monthes next after my decease

Item I give unto my son Adam Fowle and my daughter Elizabeth Fowle the like sume of Fortie pounds a peece to be paid unto them & either of them at their severall ages of one and twenty yeares and the profitt of my daughters porcon in the meane time to goe towards her educacon and bringing up the care whereof I comitt to my Executrix and desire her to add thereto if that bee not sufficient
But if my said daughter Elizabeth happen to dy before her said age of one and twenty yeares, then I appoint her said porcon of Forty pounds to be equally devided among all the Children of my son John Fowle w[hi]ch shall be liveing at the death of my said daughter and paid unto them by my Executrix
And if it happen my said son Adam doe dy before hee attaine to his age of one and twenty yeares then I appoynt his porcon to bee equally devided among all his Brothers and Sisters then surviveing and to be paid unto them at such time as hee should have received the same if hee had lived

Item I give unto my three grandchildren Mary, John and Alexander the sons & daughter of my son John Fowle the sume of Five pounds a peece to bee paid unto their Father For their use within one yeare next after my decease, hee then giveing bond unto my Executrix for the true paym[en]t thereof unto his said children at their severall ages of One & twenty yeares
and if any of them dy before then the survivors to enjoy the part of the dec[ease]d

Item whereas there is a considerable sume of mony oweing unto mee by bond from Thomas Austen of Adisham, My will and minde is that if the same mony can hereafter be recovered or so much thereof as can bee gotten the same shalbee equally devided betweene my Executrix and all my Children then liveing over and above their severall porcons foremerly hereby given (the necessary charges in sueing for & recovering the same being first deducted & allowed)

All the residue of my goods, Chattells and p[er]sonal estate whatsoever I give & bequeath unto my loveing wife Alice whom I make and ordaine sole Executrix of this my last will and testam[en]t
And I desire my loveing Father John Fowle and my good freind Richard Mascall to be Overseers of the same and to bee ayding and assisting to my said Executrix in the due execution thereof

In witnes whereof I the said Nicholas Fowle have hereunto sett my hand and seale the twentieth day of October Anno dini 1669

Note: Nicholas Fowle was buried at St. Mary Northgate, Canterbury on 29th May 1670.
