In the Name of God Amen the eight day of Aprill in the yere of the reigne of our most dread Sovraigne Lord James by the grace of God of England France and Ireland, King Defender of the faithe the eight and of Scotland the three and fortieth &c. [1610]
I Henry Frere of Sutton Vallance in the County of Kent gent[leman] being of good & p[er]fect remembrance (thankes be given to God) make my last will & Testamente in writinge as followeth
First I will & bequeath my soule to Allmightie God and my body to be buried in the p[ar]ish church where it shall please God to call me to his mercy

Item I give & bequeath unto the poore people of Sutton aforesaid Twenty shillinges
and to every of my Sister Streshins children and my Sister Waulyates children xxs
Item I will & bequeath unto James Francklyn for a remembrance xxs
To Barbara Frankeleyn xs

Item I will & bequeath unto Henry Frere my god child, my brother Mr. Robert Freres sonne Twenty pounds and unto his every such brothers & sisters forty shillinges
Item I will unto Jane Franleleyn the late wife of the said xpofer [Christopher] for a remembrance xs in gold
And unto Elizabeth Acton the wife of Edward Acton for a remembrance xxs
And unto Agnys Heyman widowe xxs in gold
And unto my brother Thomas his daughter for a remembrance in gold xxs

Item I will & bequeath unto Anne Ellis my daughter for a remembrance Tenn pounds in gold and unto every of her children xxli [£20] except to Elizabeth her daughter w[hi]ch is paid all ready
Item I will and bequeath unto Elizabeth Bishop my other daughter Three hundreth pownds of lawfull English money to be paid unto her or her Assignes within two whole yeare(s) next after my decease by my Executor

Item I will & bequeath unto Henry Bishop her sonne and to his heires for ever my Tenements with thapprtenncs [the appurtenances] in Sutton aforesaid & Hollingbourne in the said County of Kente, (my [sister?] Agnys Heyman having my Tenement in Sutton aforesaid wch I now dwell in with thapprtenncs to dwell in for and duringe all her naturall life yf she shall be content to remayne and dwell therein, paying unto the said Henry yearelie for the same xs halfe yearely to be payd by equall portions, and she to keepe the rep[ar]acons and to pay the Lords rent. My bed as yt is furnished, table, formes & Six joyned stooles likewise to remayne in my Chamber as they stand duringe her abode there)

Item I will and bequeath unto every of my said daughter Elizabeths children xli [£10] and to the said Henry xli
Item I will and bequeath unto every of my last servants viz. unto William Quarrington xxs and unto Michaell Lucke, Stephen Balden, xpofer Crorpain?, Thomas Redman, Alexander Byrkyn & John Heyman the sonne of the said Annys Heyman, and to evry of them xs

Item I will more unto the said Elizabeth my said daughter all my beds Chests lynnen & houshold stuffe in the custody of me or in the custody of the saide Elizabeth and late in one John Brayster, and unto John Bishop her husband my Corsett, Sword & Dagger

The residue of all my goods & Chattells & debts not given ...................................
I give & bequeath unto Edmunde Ellys my sonne in lawe whome I make my sole Executor of this my last will & Testament
and I do earnestly entreate my wellbeloved Brother Mr. Thomas Frere and the said John Bishop to be my Overseeres of the same And for there paynes therein to be taken unto them I give to them and either of them for a remembrance Forty shillings

And Further my mynde and will is that yf the said Agnys Heyman widowe do paie such mony as is sett downe under a bill of bargayne & sale of all her goods beinge in my howse made unto me and delivered by her in the prsence of Stephen Balden within five yeares after my decease Then she to have all the said goods anywise notwithstandinge the said bill and then yt to be delivred to her and to be payd
Also I will and bequeath unto the said Agnes her bedd she lyeth upon as it standeth withall the furniture to it, two pillowcoates & five paier of sheetes such as she doth now use to lie in and if she faile in paying the mony sett downe in the sid bill of sale

Mr. Henry Fryar buried the 15th April [1612] – parish register for St. Mary the Virgin, Sutton Valence.
Henry Frere [Fryer] married Mary Lucas 29 Dec 1566 at St. Mary, Chart Sutton, Kent.
