In the name of God Amen the fourteene day of September Anno dom 1644
I Mary Frier of the towne p’ish of Ashford in the County of Kent widdow sick of body but of good sound and p’fect memory praised be God doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following that is to say
First I commend my soule into the hands of God my maker hopeing assuredly through the onely merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour to be made ‘taker of lyfe Everlasting and I commend my body to the Earth from whence it came to be buryed in the Chancell of the p’ish church of Ashford

Imprimis I give unto the poore people of the towne p’ish of Ashford Twenty shillings to be distributed unto them at ye tyme of my buryall by my executor

Item I give unto Clement Woodland of Braborne my Kinsman & unto Ursula his wyfe the severall yearely rent of three pounds a peece yearely and every yeare to be payde unto them or theire assignes dureing theire natureall lyfes To bee yssuing p’ceived and received out of all my lands and tenements lying in Ashford aforesayde to be payd unto them halfe yearely That is to say one the feast of St Michaell the archangell and St Mary the virgin by even and equall portions the first payment thereof to be made on the next of the sayd feasts which shall next happen after my decease
And for non payment of the sayd severall payment of the three pounds and three pounds it shall be lawfull for the sayd Clement Woodland or Ursula his wyfe or any of them or theire assignes to enter in and uppon the sayd lands and tenements or any parte or p’cell thereof And to distraine for the same according to the usuall coustome of the lawes of the realme

Item I give unto William Punnet my kinsman twenty shillings to be payd unt him within one whole yeare next after my decease
Item I give unto Ephraim Punnet twenty shillings to be payd unto him within one whole yeare next after my decease
Item I give unto Thomas Punnet my kinsman twenty shillings to be likewise payd unto him within one whole yeare next after my decease

Item I give unto Allexander Phillpot the sonn of Allexander Phillpot of Ashford aforesayd three pounds to be payd unto him within three yeares next after my decease
Item I give unto Hanna Phillpot the daughter of the sayd Allexander Phillpot senior all my weareing apparell both of linen and wollon

Item all the residue of my goods chattles and housholdstuffe whatsoever not before given and bequeathed I will and bequeath unto the sayd Allexander Phillpot senior whom I doe make and ordaine sole executor of this my last Will and Testament he paying my debts legacies and yearely rents before given and funerall expences

This is the last will and testament of mee the sayd Mary Frier made the day and yeare above written as touching the disposition of my lands and tenements both free hold coppie hould or customary tenancies liing in the p’ishes of Ashford and Stone in the Isle of Oxney in ye aforesayd county of Kent

I will unto the sayd Allexander my executor to have and to hold the sayd messuage lands and tenements with the premisses and apppurtenances unto sayd Allexander Phillpot and to his heires for ever

And for more quietnesse for the avoyding of trouble that hereafter shall or may arise all such teastaments by my heretofore made and declared I doe inhibit revoke and disalow whatsoever and this my present teastament and last will irrevokeable I doe onely Ratifie and confirme and alow

And for the further certyficate and credit to be given hereunto I have hereunto sett my hand and seale dated the day and yeare first above written
