This is the Last Will and testament of me Daniel Friend the Elder of Ramsgate in the Isle of Thanet in the County of Kent Master Shipwright I being of sound and disposing mind and memory

First I Give devise to my beloved Wife Mary Friend for the term of her life if she shall so long continue my Widow (she keeping the same in good repair) all and singular my Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments And all my Real Estate whatsoever with the Appurtenances

And from and after her decease or intermarriage whichsoever of them shall first happen
I Give and devise to my Son John Friend And to his Heirs and Assigns for ever all that my Messuage or Tenement wherein he now dwells at New Street or New End

And from and after the decease or intermarriage of my said Wife
I Give and devise to my Son Daniel Friend and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever All that my Messuage or Tenement wherein I now dwell with the Outhouses Buildings Yards garden Ground Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereunto belonging and therewith held and enjoyed situate in or near the Street called the North End in Ramsgate aforesaid
And also all that my Messuage or Tenement with the Outhouses Buildings Yards garden Ground Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereunto belonging and therewith held and enjoyed situate in or near the said Street called the North End in Ramsgate aforesaid near or adjoining to my Messuage or Tenement last mentioned formerly in the Occupation of Henry Kemp and now in the Occupation of my said Son Daniel Friend
And all that my other Messuage or Tenement (near or adjoining to the said Messuage in my own Possession) with the Outhouses Buildings Yards Backside Ground Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate in or near the said North End in Ramsgate aforesaid And now in the Occupation of Elizabeth Hurst Widow and part of which was lately occupied by Jane Jolly Widow
And all that my other Messuage or Tenement situate in or near the said Street called the North End in Ramsgate aforesaid with the buildings Ground Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereunto belonging now in the Occupation of the Widow Walter together with all other my Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments in the said North End
And I Give and devise to my said Son Daniel Friend his Heirs and Assigns for ever all that my Messuage or Tenement with the Outhouses Buildings Ground Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate in Ramsgate aforesaid at or near a certain plce there called the Vole and near to the Water Side thereto And now in the several Occupations of John Dear and myself he my said Son Daniel Friend of his Heirs paying out of the same the Sum of five pounds apiece of lawful Money of Great Britain to my two other Sons John and George within six Months after the decease or intermarriage of my said Wife

Also I Give and devise to my said Son George Friend his Heirs and Assigns for ever all that my Messuage or Tenement wherein he my said Son George Friend lately dwelt and now unoccupied with the Outhouses Buildings Yards Garden Ground Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereunto belonging and therewith usually held and enjoyed situate and being in or near the said street called the New Street or New End in Ramsgate aforesaid And adjoining to the said Messuage and Premises hereinbefore devised to my said Son John Friend
And I also Give and devise to my said Son George Friend his Heirs and Assigns All that piece or parcel of Ground containing two feet in length whereof I have heretofore made a Sawpitt And upon which I have erected a Shop together with the said Sawpitt and Shop And all other the Appurtenances of the same Piece of Ground situate near or adjoining the said Messuage and Premises devised to my said Son George and formerly belonging thereunto

Also I Give and devise unto my said two sons the said John Friend and the said George Friend And their Heirs and Assigns equally to be divided between them And to be by them enjoyed as tenants in common my three Undivided fifth parts And all other my part share and Interest of And in All that piece or parcel of Ground with the Appurtenances adjoining to the Premises last mentioned lying And being in or near the said New Street or New End in Ramsgate aforesaid formerly called the Close And heretofore used as a Bleaching spot

Also I Give and devise unto my said two sons the said John Friend and George Friend And their Heirs and Assigns for ever equally to be divided between them And to be by them enjoyed as tenants in common All those my three Messuages or Tenements with the Outhouses Buildings Yards Backsides Gardens Orchard Land Hereditaments and Appurtenances whatsoever thereunto respectively belonging or in any wise Appertaining situate And together adjoining And being in Ramsgate aforesaid in or near the street there called the West end And now or late in the several tenures or Occupations of ____ Mayo Gentleman Esther Smith Spinster and Jeremiah Goodson or their respective Assigns
and also all that my Workshop now used and Occupied by me with the Appurtenances thereof situate at the said Water Side in Ramsgate for which or for the Ground whereon I erected the same or some part thereof I pay a certain Yearly Rent to the Trustees of Ramsgate Harbour

And as for and concerning all my Monies Securities for Money Stocks in the Public Funds Plate Linnen Household Furniture Effects Goods Chattels and Personal Estate wheresoever (after Payment of all my just debts and Funeral charges) I Give and bequeath the same and every part thereof to my Executors hereinafter named Upon Trust
And to the intent that my said Wife may have and enjoy the Annual Interest Dividends Custody and reasonable using thereof for and during the term of her life if she shall so long remain my Widow

And from and after her decease or Marriage I Give and bequeath all the said Monies Securities Stocks Plate Linnen Household Furniture Effects Goods Chattels and Personal Estate to my said three Sons John Friend Daniel Friend and George Friend equally to be divided between them share and share alike

And I appoint my two Sons John Friend and George Friend Executors of this my last Will and Testament
And I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I have to each of these three Sheets of Paper (which together contain my Will) set my hand and seal this thirtieth day of March in the twenty fifth Year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith And so forth and in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty five Daniel Friend
