In the name of God Amen The seaventeeth daie of December in the yeare of our Lord God One Thousand six hundred Eighty and Eight according to the Computation of the Church of England
I John Fyle of the parish of Staple in the County of Kent Blacksmith being of perfect memory and remembrance; praised be God, doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner & forme following;
First I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker hopeing that through the meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ my onely Saviour and Redeemer to recieve free pardon and forgivenes of my sins And as for my body to be buryed in Christian buriall at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter nominated, vizt.

Item Item I give unto my son Stephen Fyle one shilling
Item I give unto my son Andrew Fyle one shilling
Item I give unto my son Isac Fyle one shilling
Item I give unto my son in law Sammuel Foreman one shilling
truely to be paid unto them twelve months and one day after my decease by my Executrix hereafter named

Item I give unto my Grandson Isacke Fyle one Lamb;
Item I give unto my Grandson John Fyle one Lambe;
Item I give unto Mary my wife one chaffe bed and bedsted, two boulsters and two blankets and one paire of sheetes, one iron pot and two chaires

Item I give unto my Grand=daughter Elizabeth Cosens one Feather bed and bedsted vallents and Curtains thereto belonging two boulsters and one paire of sheetes
Item I give unto my Grand=daughter Margaret Cosens one feather bed and bedsted, two boulsters, two blankets and one paire of sheetes
Item I give unto my Grand=daughter Bennet Cosins one flockbed & bedsted, two boulsters, two bloankets and one paire of sheetes
Item I give unto my Grandson Edward Cosens one Joyne [joined] chest

Item I give unto my son in Law William Cosens all the rest of my household goods Chattles and all else whatsoever
upon Condicon that he shall pay all my debts and Legacyes and make himselfe sole Executrix? of this my Last will and Testament revokeing all other wills and Testaments

Probatum fuit: 5th January 1688/89

Notes:
John Fyle was married on 8th Jun 1676 to Mary Fennell, widow, both of Staple, at St. James, Staple.
John Fille was buried 2nd January 1688/9 at Staple.
