In the Name of God Amen The xxixthe [29th] day of Marche in the yere of our Lorde God 1557.
I John George of Bedersden [Bethersden] (in the County of Kent) make and ordayne my testamene in manner and forme followynge
Fyrst I comend my Sowle to allmyghtye God my maker and redemer and my body to be buryed in the churche yarde of Bedersden

Fyrst I wyll that bread and drynke shalbe geven for me at my buryenge
Item I geve to Nycolas George my brother my table at Stanford

Item I gee to Franncys Kyngsnode [Francis Kingsnode] and Patyens [Patience] Kyngsnode my godchildren all my howsholde stuffe that ys nowe in the custodye of George Kyngsnode ther father

The reste of my stuffe and moveable goodes I wyll yt shall be geven to the poore folkes wtin [within] the pishe [parish] of Bedersden and plockley [Pluckley] at the dyscretyon [discretion] of Robert Bacheler whome I ordayne and make my executor to se [see] my testamente fulfylled

Wytnes hereof John Cloke and Rychard Kente

Probatum fuit: decimo septimo die mensis May Anno dini .... [17th May of the month of May 1577]

Notes:
John George’s burial in 1557 in Bethersden (or Kent) is not found. Parish registers only commenced in 1556 for Bethersden.
