In the name of God Amen The xxiiij daye of Aprill in the xxxiiij yere of the Reigne of our Sovereigne ladye Elyzabethe by the grace of God of England France & Ireland Queene Defender of the faythe etc. [1592]
I Nicholas George of the pryshe [parish] of Chartham being sycke in bodye but in good & pfecte [perfect] Remembrannce make this my last wyll & testament in manr [manner] and forme Followinge
Fyrst I bequeythe my soule to Allmyghtye god my maker & to Jesus Christ his onelye sonn, my onelye Savyoure [Saviour] & Redemr [Redeemer] by whose deathe & passion I beleve to be savyd

Item I will & beqeythe unto Alyce my wyffe all my Messuage and Tenement wt [with] (the) barne stable & other out houses wt thapprttenncs [with the appurtenances] hemplands & Archearde [Orchard] in Chartham and all the housholde stoufe [stuff] wthin [within] the sayde Messuage & wth v l [£5] of good & lawfull mon(ey) of Englande to be payd oute of my other landes for terme of her naturall lyffe
And after her decease I wyll the sayde Messuage and Tenement barne stable & other one house hempelands & orchard wth thapprttenncs & all the sayde housholde, unto my two sonnes Samwell & Jaymes & to their heires for ever

Item I will and beqythe unto my two sonnes Samwell & Jaymes all the residue of my landes wthin the pryshe (sic) of Chartham & & to their heires for ever Immediately after my decease wth all the residue of my moveable goodes not before geven to pay my detts & legacyes

Item I wyll & leave unto my two daughters Rachell & Margaret eyther of them xx l [£20] of godd & lawfull money to be payd the one haulfe [half] at the day of mariage & the other haulfe twelve monthes after or at the age of xxiiij yeres which comethe fyrst

Item I wyll & bequeythe unto Nycholas my sonne xll [£40] of lawfull moneye, & to be payde by my Executrixe That is to saye, vij l xijs iiijd [£7, 12 shillings and 4 pence] a yere untyll the said xll [£40] be full payde & the fyrste payment to be payde not fore syxe yeres after my decease be expyred

Item I wyll that If any of my two sonnes Samwell & Jaymes do dye wthoeut heires of theye bodyes lawfully begotten then I wyll that one to be the other heire

Item I will my two sonnes Samwell & Jaymes to be my Executors, to paye all my dettes & legacys befor geven

Probatum fuit: 28th May 1595 to Samuel George, (James George was still a minor)
Sentence of Will (Latin) not able to transcribe. Mentions son Samuel, widow Alice, son Nicholas of Westbeere, & John Edwards notary public.

Notes:
Nicholas George was buried 2 Apr 1595 at Chartham
Nicholas George married Alice Farbrace 20th November 1558 at St. Mary Chartham.
His children are all christened at Chartham, thus:
2-Feb 1562/3 Amye; 4-Mar 1564/5 Nicholas; 10-Oct 1568 Samuell; 9-Nov 1572 Rachell; 01-Sep 1577 Margaret; 29-Jun 1581 James.
Son Samuel George of Chartham also left a Will: PRC 16/257 G/2 dated 1644 and proved 1648.
Daughter Amy married Henry Foade 2 Oct 1582 at Chartham
