In the name of God Amen ye tenth daye of February in anno Regine Elyzabethe the xxxviijth [38th]
I Nicholas George of Beathersden in ye County of Kent bacheler doe make & ordayne this my p’sent [present] testament contayninge therein my last will in manner & forme Followinge
First I give my Soule in to the hands of allmighty God my everlastinge savior [saviour] & Redeemer & my body to be buried in the earth where yt shall please God

And I will there shalbe [shall be] bestowed at my buriall tenne shillings
And I will unto fower porre [4 poor] men for to beere [bear] me to the church fower shillings
Item I will unto my father five kyne that he hath in his keepinge
Item I will alsoe to my mother twentie shillings to be paid ymediatlie [immediately] after my decease
Also I will and bequeath to my brother Thomas George the two oxen that he hath in his keepinge

Item I will unto my brother John George five pounds and thirteen shillings that he hath in his hands
And threepounds that Austen Lease dothe owe me
And alsoe I will unto my brother John George the two wethers and one two-yearinge

And alsoe I will unto my brother Johns iij children that be at home threscore Sheepe to be equallye to be delivered to there father after my decease

And alsoe I will unto Jone George my good daughter my red heifer (God daughter)
Item I will and bequeathe unto my god daughter Anne Hoke two lambs to be delivered presently after my decease
And alsoe I bequeath unto my Brother Thomas Eldest sonne Richard ij sheep to be delivered presentlye after my decease

Item I doe will that my other two bullocke to be solde for the best price that can be And the mony thereof cominge for to be equally devided amongst Thomas Georges children then sayinge
Item I will unto my goddaughter Elizabeth Brissenden so much as shall bie her a good lamme out of them two bullocks

And further I will & bequeath that fower of my kyne that I have afore willed after the decease of my father and my mother decease then to be sould and the monie thereof cominge to be equallyr divided amongst my brothers Thomas & Johns children And alsoe I will after there decease one cowe more to be delivered to my god daughter Jone

All the residue of my moveable goods not bequeathed I will it to my brother John George whome I doe ordeine to be my sole Executor of this my will to paying debts my legacies and Isaake Brissenden to be my overseer

In Witnes whereof I have declared this my last will in the face of these Witnesses

Notes:
Nicholas George was buried at St. Margaret, Bethersden on 18th February 1595(6).
It appears that this family may pre-date parish registers.
