In the name of God Amen the eighth day of Aprill in the fourth yeere of the raygne of our most gracious & Soveraygne Lord King James
I Rychard George of Bethersden in the County of Kent being sicke in body but in good and pfect [perfect] remembrannce god be praised therefore doe make & ordeyne this my psnt [present] testament & last will in manner & fourme [form] following
First I bequeath my Soule into the hands of Allmightie God myne evr [my ever] lasting redemer & saviour and my body to be buried in the earth where it shall chouse [choose]

I give unto the poore mens box of ye said pish [parish] xijd [12 pence] to be paid wthin [within] one yeere after my decease
And I will unto Rychard Lappaine ? my godson xijd to be payd wthin [within] one yeere after my decease

Also I give unto my eldest sonne Thomas George xli [£10] to be payd to him wthin [within] one yeere after my decease
And also I give unto my sonne Thomas(‘s) Children en [and] every one of them xijd apeece to be payd wthin [within] one yeere after my decease

And alsoe I give unto my sonne John Georges three sonnes Nicholas George & John George and Edward George and every one of them xijd apeece to be payd wthin [within] one yeere after my decease
And alsoe I give to my sonne Johns two daughters Jone George and Susan George fortie shillings apeece to be payd to them when they doe come to the age of xviij [18]

And all the residewe of my moveable goods corne and Cattell not bequeathed I will and bequeath unto John George my sonne whom I ordeyne and make my sole executor and he to pay my debts & Legacies & other ordinary charges
And I appoynt Isaac Brissenden and Thomas Parker Overseers to this my last will & testament And witnes

This is the last will & testament of me the aforenamed Rychard George by me psonally [personally] declared and conserninge the disposing of my land & tente. [tenements] and howse wch [which] I nowe well in I doe give after my decease to my sonne John George for terme of his life & after his decease to his sonne Nicholas George to him & to his heires for evr [ever]

And thereto I have set to my hand & seale

Probatum fuit: tertio die Novembrris Anno dini 1608 - 3rd November 1608.

Notes:
Rychard George was buried at St. Margaret, Bethersden on 5th November 1608.
His birth / christening are not found are therefore presumed to be before the start of parish registers in 1556.
Son John George lived in Woodchurch and married Margaret Richardson, Sp. at All Saints, Woodchurch on 27th May 1588.
John and Margaret George’s children (all christened at Woodchurch):
20 Jun 1588 Peter; 20 Apr 1589 Jone; 4 Oct 1590 Nicholas; 25 Feb 1592/3 John; 19 May 1595 Edward; 1598 Susan.
