In the Name of God Amen I John Gilbert of the Parish of Erith in the County of Kent Farmer Dealer and Chapman being through the Blessing of Almighty God (though weak of Body) yet of a sound Mind do will and bequeath all and every my Goods and Chattels Estate and Estates both Personal and Freehold in form and manner following that is to say

I will and bequeath unto my son Henry Gilbert my Heir and lawfully begotten of my Body the Sum of Fifty Pounds to be paid within the space of thirty Days next after my decease provided he the said Henry Gilbert shall not enter any Action Suit or Demand on my Executors or Administrators herein after named
which if he the said Henry Gilbert shall do then the said Sum of Fifty Pounds to be forfeited and he the said Henry Gilbert to receive the Sum of Five Shillings

Likewise I give and bequeath unto my Loving Daughter Elizabeth Chapling the Use and Interest of two hundred Pounds of good and lawful Money of Great Britain for and during the term of her natural life and for and during the term of the life of her youngest Child lawfully begotten of her body

likewise unto my Loving daughter Mary Good lawfully begotten of my Body I will and bequeath the Sum of two hundred Pounds of good and lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid within the space of one Year after my decease by my Executors hereafter named

Likewise unto my loving Daughter Sally Gilbert lawfully begotten of my Body I give and bequeath the Sum of two hundred and fifty Pounds of good and lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid within the space of twelve Months after my decease by my Executors hereinafter named

All and every of my said Goods and Chattels Estates and Effects to be equally divided between my Sons Moses Gilbert William Gilbert and Thomas Gilbert all lawfully begotten of my body share and share alike except that my said Son Thomas Gilbert is to receive the Sum of Fifty Pounds over and above his equal share of my Estate and Effects to be paid him my said son Thomas Gilbert by my Executors herein after named

Likewise I do will and bequeath that my said sons Moses Gilbert William Gilbert and Thomas Gilbert be my joint and sole Executors to this my last Will and Testament to pay and receive all and every Debts Funeral Expences etc.

In Witness hereof I have hereunto set my Hand and seal this twenty fourth day of September one Thousand seven hundred and eighty nine and do revoke all and every Will and Bequest whatsoever before made John Gilbert Signed in the presence of us

Schedule to the above
If my Daughter shall outlive or Survive her Husband William Chaplin then the aforesaid Sum of two hundred Pounds the Use of which I have bequeathed to her for and during the term of her natural life on such demise to become the sole property of my said Daughter Elizabeth Chaplin
but if she and her Issue shall not survive the said Wm Chaplin her Husband then the said Sum of two hundred Pounds to be equally divided between my surviving Children after the death of my said Daughter and her Issue share and share alike
and I farther bequeath that the said Sum of two hundred Pounds be laid out in some Publick Stock or Fund immediately after my decease and that my said Daughter Elizabeth Chapling to receive the Interest of the same

Witness my Hand and Seal this twenty sixth day of September 1789 Subscribed in the presence of us
