In the name of God amen the fourth day of October in the year our Lord God 1511 -
I John Godneston Gentleman of the Parish of (Goodnestone) being of whole of Mind and of good .... Make my testament and last Will in this manner. First I bequeath my soul to God ..... Holy company of heaven and my body to be buried in the Church of Goodneston ....against ... the burial of my wife.

I bequeath to the high altar therefore my tithe forgotten 3.4d.
Item I bequeath to the high altar of Nonnington 10d.
Item I bequeath to Thomas my son ... mark to be paid (unto) by m....by William my son in year every year ... The first payment to be paid within the year after he hath paid The time of his apprentice h....

The residue of my goods and chattels not bequeathed my debt and my .... With funeral (expenses) First paid I give and bequeath to William my son which William I make my sole executor of this.

Witness John Goodfellow and William ... Thomas Frode etc.

This is the last Will of me John Godneston made the ....

First I will that my said (son) William all my lands and (tenements) ... with all the appurtences of which I have in the parishes of Goodnestone and Nonnington ... within the County of Kent to ... and to his Eldest issue in .... of his body lawfully begotten for ever

and if it happen .... Of the said issue .... To be in holy orders than I will he so being shall not have ... inherit none of the said lands or tenement (except he be of the last and longest lived of the said issue males), then I will he being ... Orders shall only have the said lands and tenenants for term of his life.

Also I will and charge the Said (William ) my son and his heirs that shall inherit the said lands and tenements that they shall .... Do no fuss to be done any th... by fine and feasement warranty .... Or otherwise of the said lands and tenenants so any .... Whereby this my last Will ... Be broken.

And if it fortune the said William my son to die without heir male of his body lawfully begotten then I will all my lands and Tenements with the appurtences to Thomas my son and to ... heirs male lawfully begotten. In such ... Me of ... as (is) ..... William my son
and further I will that for lack of the said Issue Male of my son Thomas lawfully begotten I will that all the said Lands and tenements remain to the eldest heir female of the said William Godnestone to her heirs
and at the condition that the said Issue... shall find a honest Priest to the space of three years to ... In the Church of Godnestone for my Soul and all my .... Souls and all proper souls and if the said heir .... To assure and deny to find a Priest be the same time then I Will that my feefe or the heirs or their assigns shall sell all my lands and Tenements to the most advantage and the money thereof ...ing to ... for my soul my friends souls and all ... Souls.

Also I Will that my entire shall.... To the said dome in the Church of Godnestone of the day of my burying 1b Mass at my month .... 1b Mass at my year ... ynd 1b masses
