In the name of God Amen the fyft day of March in the yeares of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord James by the grace of God of England, Scotland, Frannce and Ireland King defender of the Faith etc., vizt. of England, Frannce and Ireand the eight and of Scotland the fower and fortith
I Thomas Goodhew of the Parish of Selling in the County of Kent yeoman being sick in Body but of good and perfect Remembrance (thanks be unto Allmighty God therefore) de make and ordeine this my p[rese]nte last will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I will and bequeath my Soule into the Hands of Allmighty God, hoping by the death, passion and meritts of Jesus Christe my only saviour and Redeemer to have remission and Pardon of all my sinnes And my Body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in the Parrish Churchyard of Selling aforesaid in Christian like manner at the discretion of mine Executrix hereafter named

Item I give and bequeath unto Margarett my daughter the wife of George Alyng twelve pence of Currant money of England to be paid unto her wthin one yeare next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto Mathew Norman sonne of Robert Norman late of Boughton under the Bleane in the County aforesaid deaced [deceased] one Annuity or yearely rent Charge of fower Bushells of wheat and fower Bushells of Barley, graunted unto me aforesaid Thomas Goodhew by one William Cosan of Canterbury in the County aforesaid, yshuing [issuing] and going out of one Messuage or Tenement wth the ppurtenncs [appurtenances] lying and being in Graveney in the County aforesaid in a cetaine place there called Welling? together with the deed or graunt of the said Annuity or yearely rent charge To have and to hold as well the said Annuity or rent Charge as the deed or graunt thereof unto the said Mathew Norman his heires for ever and to his and their use

Item I give and bequeath unto Robert Norman and Alice Norman Children of the said Robert Norman to each of them twelve pence a peice to be paid unto them wthin one yeare next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Lagoe, Samuell Lagoe, Anne Lagoe, Margaret Lagoe and Elizabeth Lagoe Children of John Lagoe and Katharine my daughter to each of them twelve pence a peice to be paid unto them wthin one yeare next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto Alice Taylor my daughter twelve pence of lawfull english money a peice to be paid unto her wthin one yeare next after my decease, and unto John Taylor, Thomas Taylor, Alice Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, Mary Taylor and Barbara Taylor, Children of Robert Taylor and the said Alice my daughter to each of them the like sommes of twelve pence of lawfull english money a peice to be paid unto them wthin one yeare next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto the said Catherine Lagoe my daughter one Annuity or yearly rent Charge of six and twenty shillings and eight pence of lawfull english money to be yshuing and going forth out of one Messuage or Tenement called gusmer scituate lying and being in Selling aforesaid now in the tenure and occupacon of the aforesaid Robert Taylor or his Assignes and out of six peices or p[ar]cells of land to the said Tenement belonginge and accrued to and wth the same Tenement to be paid unto the said Catharine by even porcons quarterly during the whole terme of the na[tu]rall life of the said Katharine At fower of the most usuall feasts or termes in the yeare (that is to say) At the feast of the Birth of of our Lord Christ, the Anunciacon of our blessed Lady the Virgin, the feaste of St. John the Baptist and St. Michaell tharchangell: The first payment thereof to begin and be at such of the aforesaid feasts as shall first happen after the decease of me the aforesaid Thomas Goodhew and Anne my Wife

And if it happen the said Annuity or yearely rent Charge of six and twenty shillings and eight pence or any p[ar]te or pcell to be behind and unpaid in pte or in all ov[e]r or after any of the said dayes in w[hi]ch as is aforesaid it ought to be paid, that then and from thence forth it shall and may be lawfull to and for the said Katharine or her Assignes into the aforesaid Messuage and Lands last above recyted or into any pte or pcell thereof to enter and distreine [distrain] and the distress and distresses then and there found and taken to lead, drive, beare and Carry away and the same to deteine and wthhould untill the aforesaid Annuity or yearely rent Charge of six and twenty shillings and eight pence wth the arrerages thereof, together wth the Costs and damages by that occasion had and susteyned be fully satisfyed Contented and payd

Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my daughter the some of Threescore and tenne Pounds of lawfull english money to be paid unto ye said Elizabeth wth[in?] six score dayes next after the decease of me the said Thomas and Anne my wife by the above named Mathew Norman his heires or assignes, at or in the south Porche of the p[ar]ishe Church of Selling aforesaid

Item I give unto the said Anne my wife the profitts of the aforesaid Messuage or Tente. [Tenement] called Cusmer wth the other eadifices to the said Messuage or Tent. Belonging and six peices or pcells of land conteining by estimacon twenty and eight Acars more or lesse Called by the name of the Six Acars the kn.....? Close, the home Croft, great Poppenden, little Poppenden and Poppenden L..d? during the whole terme of the naruall life of the said Anne, she keeping her self unmarried; she the said Anne doing or Comitting no strip nor wast in or upon any of the said Messuages or Lands

The residue of all my goods and Chattells my debts Legacies and funerall expences being paid and discharged, I give and bequeath unto the said Anne my wife whom I make sole Executrix of this my p'nte last will and Testament

This is the Last will and Testament of me the aforenamed Thomas Goodhew touching the disposicon of all my Lands, Tents. and hereditaments whatsoever

First I will give and bequeath unto the aforenamed Mathew Norman all that Messuage or Tenement last above menconed Called Coustomer? with all the said edificies and buildings to the said Messuage belonging and the aforesaid eight and twenty Acars of lands more or lesse wth thappurtennacnes to ye same belonginge in the occupacon of the aforenamed Robert Taylor To have and to hould the said Messuage and lands wth thappurtennacnes unto the said Mathew Norman and his heires for ever ymediatly after the decease of me the said Thomas and Anne my wife

Item I give and bequeath unto Joane my daughter the wife of Richard Sladen of the pish of Lyminge in the County abovesaid one Messuage or Tent. wherein I inhabit and dwell, wth two gardens and fower peices or pcells of land to the same messuage or Tent belonging scituate lying and being in Selling aforesaid to have and to hold to the said Joane and Richard her husband and the longest liver of them and to the heires of the Body of the said Joane begotten by the said Richard, and for want of such yssue to remaine and be to Elizabeth my daughter and her Heires for ever

Provided allwayes and my will and mind is that if the foresaid Mathew Norman his heires or Assignes shall make default in payment of the aforesaid some of threescore and ten Pounds before given unto my said daughter Elizabeth at the day and place before lymited for the paym[en]t thereof that then after such default in payment of the said Threescore and ten pounds my will and meaninge is that the said Elizabeth my daughter shall and may enter upon ye said messuage and lands aforesaid given to the said Mathew Norman and the same to holld and deteine in her possession untill wth the yearely profitts of the said Messuage and Lands she shall have receaved and made up the said Some of Threescore and ten pounds so as she doe no wast unto or upon the Premisses or any part thereof

And [I] the said Thomas Goodhew doe make and ordeine the said Anne my wife sole executrix of this my pnte last will and testament
And doe nminate and appoint my reverend freind Mr. John Edwards of Davington overseer of this my pnte last will and testament and doe appoint my said executrix to give him twenty shillings for his paines to be taken therein

In witnes whereof I the said Thomas Goodhew have to this my pnte last will and testament set my hand and Seale the day and yeare first abovewritten 1610

Cath Goodhew of Selling married John Lago of Faversham Apr 1585 in St. Mary of Charity, Faversham, Kent.
