This is the last Will and Testament of me Robert Gravener of the Town and Borough of Deal in the County of Kent Superannuated Pilot made this twenty eighth day of October one thousand eight hundred and forty as follows that is to say

first I direct all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expences to be paid out of my personal estate
I give and bequeath all and every sum and sums of money that may be due to me at the time of my decease from the fellowship of Cinque Port Pilots all my household furniture beds linen plate china and wearing apparel unto my well beloved Wife Jane Gravener absolutely to and for her own use and benefit

and I give and devise all my free hold estates whatsoever and wheresoever (but not the absolute property) and all dividends interest of all debts due and owing to me money securities for money money in any of the public stocks or funds and all other my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto her my said Wife Jane Gravener for and during the term of her natural life

and from and after her decease I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Phillips Gravener the interest of all my property aforesaid whatsoever and wheresoever for and during the term of her natural life that is to say all dividends and interest arising from my real and personal estates whatsoever (but not the absolute property)

and from and after her decease I give and bequeath all my real and personal estates whatsoever and wheresoever absolutely unto my daughter Elizabeth Gibbs Wife of Thomas Gibbs of Canterbury Coachman to and for her own use and benefit

but should my daughter Sarah Phillips Gravener be the survivor then and in that case and after her death I give bequeath and devise the whole of my property aforesaid unto my Grandchildren the children of the said Elizabeth Gibbs their heirs and assigns

and I do nominate and appoint my two friends Stephen Neame and John Barber Thornton of Deal aforesaid Cinque Port Pilots joint Executors of this my will and I declare that my said Executors shall be answerable for such monies only as they shall actually receive and that it shall be lawful for them respectively to deduct and retain to themselves all costs and expences that may be incurred in relation to the trusts of this my will

It is my will in case my Wife Jane Gravener�s income does not produce forty pounds per annum my executors shall be empowered to draw from my personal estate from time to time to make good such deficiency if any

In Witness whereof I the said Robert Gravener the Testator have to this my last will and testament contained in two sheet of paper affixed together to the first sheet thereof I have set my hand and to this second and last sheet thereof my hand and seal the day and year first aforesaid Robert Gravener
