In the Name of God Amen the eighteenth day of May in the Yeare of Our Lord one thousand sixe hundred and fiftye sixe
I Deborah Greenstreete of the Parish of Ospringe in the Countie of Kent Widdow beinge weake in bodye but of perfect minde and memorie (praised be almighty God) doe constitute and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following.
First I recommend my Soule to God the Creator of it by whose mercie and Christ Jesus my Sole Mediator and Redeemers Merrits I hope assuredlye to inherit immortallity and Glory and my body I leave at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named to be decently buried in the little Chancell of the Southside of the Parish Church of Ospringe aforesaid next to the grave of my deceased somme James Greenstreete on the North Side.
And as for my temporall Estate with which it hath pleased Almightye God of his infinite Mercy and Goodness to blesse me with I make disposal thereof as followeth

Imprimus I give and bequeath to the poore people of the Parish of Westwell in the Countie aforesaid sixe poundes of lawfull money of England and to the poore people of Ospringe aforesaid fower poundes of like money to be paid and distributed to them by my Executors within three moneths imediatelie ensueing my decease.

Item I will and bequeath to my Neece Elizabeth Farbrasse five poundes of lawfull money of England
and to my Neece and Godaughter Deborah Branch tenn poundes of like money
to be paid unto them by my Executors within one yeare next ensueing my decease.

Item I will and bequeath to my Brother in lawe Henry Farbrasse of Westwell aforesaid all such sumes of money as are nowe in arrears due to me for Rent of a farme called Peniton situate and Iyinge in Westwell aforesaid on condicon that he shall peaceably leave and yield up the same farm with the appurtenances to the disposal of my Executors the next Michelmas which shall next happen and come next and imediately after my decease otherwise the gifte and legacie hereby given to him as aforesaid shalbe void.

Item I give and bequeath to my youngest sonne Peter Greenstreete the sume of one hundred and fiftye poundes of lawfull money of England to be employed and disposed to his use and benefit in such manner as hereafter in this my Will declared.

My will and mind is that my Executors shall sell soe much of my householdstuffe as they in their discretion shall conceive more convenient to be sold that preserved. And all the moneys thereby raysed shalbe by them equally devided betwixt my twoe sonnes John Greenstreete and Peter Greenstreete and employed and disposed to the severall uses according to the direction hereafter specified for the disposall of the moneys to be hereafter raysed of the severall Rents and Profitts of their severall messuages lands and tenements and the remainder of my said householdstuffe which shalbe lefte unsold at my sonne John Greenstreetes full age of one and twentie yeares, together with all my jewells gold gold ringes and plate whatsoever and wheresoever I will and give to my said sonnes John Greenstreete and Peter Greenstreete to be betweene them equally devided by my Executors.

The Residue of all my Moneys Leases Goodes Chattells my Funeral Charges my Debts and Legacies first being satisfied and paid I will and give to my eldest sonne John Greenstreete.
All which goods my will and desire is shalbe by my Executors solde and the moneyes thereby raised to be by them employed and disposed to the use and benefitt of my said sonne John Greenstreete and in such way and manner as herein shalbe expressed and declared.

Item I will and desire that my Brother William Browne be allowed and paid quarterlie during his life fortie shillinges, except he shall hereafter recover an estate wherewith he may maintaine himself, the first payment thereof to be and begin on the first and fower quarter dayes for payment (that is to saie) Midsummer Day Michelmas Day Christmas Day and Our Lady Day which shall first happen after my decease which I desire my Executors to pay wholly till my sonne John Greenstreete shall attaine his full age of one and twentie yeares. And afterwards I will and desire that my said sonne John Greenstreete pay him quarterly during his life twentie five shillinges and then my Executors to pay him but fifteen shillinges quarterly duringe the nonage of my sonne Peter Greenstreete. And after my said sonne Peter shall attaine his full age of one and twentie yeares I will and desire that he shall pay the said sume of fifteen shillinges quarterlie to my said Brother William Browne during his life as aforesaid.

Item I give and devise to my sonne Peter Greenstreete and his heires forever all my messuages land tenements and hereditaments situate Iyinge and being in Westwell aforesaid or wheresoever else within the aforesaid Countie of Kent.

And my will and mind is that my Executors shall lett and dispose severally all the messuages lands tenements and hereditaments of my aforesaid twoe sonnes till they shall severally attaine their full age of one and twentie yeares and receive their severall Rents and Profitts to be disposed according to the direcon true intent and meaning of this my last Will.
And the true intent and meaning thereof is that my Executors soe soone as they shall have received in money and raised of the Goods and Chattells hereby solely devised to my sonne John Greenstreete and received of the Rents and Profitts of his messuages lands and tenements and hereditaments or otherwayes to his use the sume of fower hundred poundes shall soe soon as conveniently they may therewith purchase messuages lands or tenements to be conveyed to my sonne John Greenstreefe and his heires.
And soe from time to time as often as they shall receive of the Rents and Profitts of his messuages lands tenements and hereditaments or otherwaise the sume of fower hundred poundes shall therewith purchase to be conveyed to my sonne John Greenstreete and his heires messuages lands or tenements till he shall attaine the full age of one and twentie yeares

And alsoe that my Executors soe soone as they shall out of the Rents and Profitts of the messuages lands tenements and hereditaments hereby given and devised to my sonne Peter Greenstreete or otherwise have received the sume of one hundred poundes that with the first opportunitie dispose thereof together with the one hundred and fiftie poundes hereby willed and given to him in a purchase of messuages lands or tenements to be conveyed to my said sonne Peter Greenstreete and his heires and assignes
from time to time as often as they shall receive of the Rents and Profitts of his messuages lands tenements and hereditaments or otherwaise the sume of twoe hundred poundes shall therewith purchase to be conveyed to my said sonne Peter Greenstreete and his heires messuages lands or tenements till he shall attaine the full age of one and twentie yeares

But if either of my twoe sonnes shall dye before his full age of one and twentie yeares without issue of his body lawfully begotten then my Will and Minde is that my Executors after they shall receive the sume of five hundred poundes of the Rents and Profitts of those messuages lands tenements and hereditaments which belonged to that sonne who shall soe dye without Issue of his body lawfully begotten of the Rents and Profitts of the messuages lands tenements of my surviving sonne shall soe soone as convenientlie they may purchase with the said five hundred poundes messuages lands or tenements to be conveyed to my sonne that shall survive and to his heires.
And soe from time to time as often as they shall receive as aforesaid the sume of five hundred poundes shall therewith purchase messuages lands or tenements to be conveyed to such surviving sonne and his heires till he shall attaine his full age of one and twenty yeares.

Item I will and desire that the Executors and Overseers of this my last Will and testament shall meete yearelie on the first Tuesday in June at my mansion house called Painters scituate in Ospringe aforesaid and then and there produce to be perused by my Overseers just and perfect Accounts of all their receipts and disbursements of my said sonnes severall estates to and for their severall uses fairely & distinctly entered into two bookes whereof one shall containe the severall Accompts of my sonne John Greenstreetes estate, and the other the severall Accompts of my sonne Peter Greenstreetes Estate. Both which said severall Accompts I will shalbe likewise distinctly there entered into a third booke to be kept by my sonne John Greenstreete and soe from yeare to yeare till my sonne Peter shall attaine his full age of one and twenty yeares.
Ans as my said sonnes shall severally attain the age of one and twentie yeares I will that my Executors shall make and deliver to them severally perfect and just Accompts of all their receipts and disbursements of my said sonnes severall estates to and for their severall uses as aforesaid,
And I will that the yearelie entertanement? and expences of meetinge for perusall of the aforesaid Accompts by the Overseers of this my Last Will shalbe deducted out of the Rents and Profitts of my said sonnes estates and all other charges expences and disbursements severally occasioned in reference to their severall estates shall likewise be deducted accordinglie.

And I doe hereby comitt the Custodye and education of my youngest sonne Peter Greenstreete till he shall attaine the full age of one and twenty yeares to my loveinge cousen Henry Greenstreete of Elverland in the parish of Ospringe aforesaid to be vertuouslye and religiouslye educated in such way as he in his discretion and accordinge to my said sonnes qualitye and capacitye shall conceive most meete and convenient out of the Rents and profitts of his estate.

And whereas in or about the yeare of our Lord one thousand sixe hundred fortye and fower I compo..ded? with his late Ma'ties Officers of his highnes late Court of Wardes and Liveryes for the Wardshipp and marriage of my eldest sonne John Greenstreete whoo then graunted to me the Custodye of his bodye and the Rents and profitts of all his messuages landes and tenements dureing his minoritye
Now my will and minde is that my Executors shall not make or receive to themselves any profitt or advantage by the Composicon and graunt before mentconed but that my said sonne John Greenstreete shall have free libertye at his will and pleasure to marrye whome and when he shall please and to receive and dispose of his wifes marriage porcon.
And alsoe my will and minde is that all the rents and profitts which after my decease shalbe received and made by the Executors of this my last will and testament of all the messuages landes and tenements of my sonne John Greenstreete shalbe disposed and imployed in such way and manner as by this my last will is formerlie directed and appointed not withstanding the aforemenconed composition and grannt.

Alsoe I doe hereby comitt the custodie and education of my eldest sonne John Greenstreete till he shall attaine the full age of one and twentie yeares to my aforesaid loving friend and kinsman Henry Greenstreete of Ospringe in the aforesaid Countie of Kent Yeoman to be vertuouslye and religiouslye educated in such a way as in his discrecon and according to my said sonnes qualitye and capacitye shall conceive most meete and convenient out of the Rents and Profitts proceeding out of his Estate.

Item I will and give to every Overseer of this my last Will whoe shall pleased to undergoe the office to see the same faithfullie performed five poundes money to be paid within one yeare imediately ensueing my decease.
And I doe hereby nominate and appoint my lovinge friends Thomas Sowthouse of Faversham in the aforesaid Countie of Kent Gent., John Knowler of the same Gent, James Tassell of Linsted in the said Countie gent. and Thomas Greenstreete of Eastling in the said Countie Yeoman Overseers hereof.

Alsoe I will and give every Executor of this my last Will and Testament whoe shall please to take on him the office and trust sixe poundes thirteen shillings and fourpence.
Lastly I make and constitute my lovinge friends Michael Belke of Sheldwich in the said Countye Esq. and my aforesaid kinsman Henry Greenstreete and my said sonne John Greenstreete Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
And I doe hereby revoke and make void and null all Wills and Testaments heretofore by me made.

In Witness whereof I have here unto affixed my Seale and subscribed my name to every sheete hereof being fower in number dated the day and yeare first in my last Will and Testament written. Deborah Greenstreete

This will was proved in London the 12th July 1656 ... by the oaths of Michaell Belke Esq. and Henry Greenstreete two of the Executors named ....
