In the name of God amen : I Suzan Hales one of the daughters of William Hales Esquire deceased doe nowe in my health and good memory (because of the incertayntie of my lief) revoking all other willes by me formerlie made, doe by this my last will & testament made this last daie of September 1630 And in the sixt yeere of the reigne of our Sovereigne lord kinge Charles dispose of my selfe and myne effectes as followeth
First I bequeath my Sowle into the handes of my mercifull God assuredlie trusting through the onlie merits of the death and passion of my alone Saviour Jhesus Christ to obteyne eternall life in the kingdome of heaven and my bodie to the earth to be decentlie buried by myne executor hereafter named in the parish Church of Nackington neere my mother there

Item I will and bequeath unto my welbeloved sister Mrs Margarett Hales my damaske tablecloth and one dozen of damask napkins
Item I will and bequeath unto my sister Mrs Marie Everard my Diamond ring which I desire her to accept as a kind remembrance of my love

Item I will and bequeath unto Margarett Hales and William Hales daughter and sonne of my brother William Hales, fortie shillings a piece to buy each of them a ringe in remembrance of me
Item I will and bequeath unto Susan Hales my God-daughter the some of tenne poundes

Item I will and bequeath unto my welbeloved sisters Affra Hales and Anne nowe the wife of Mr James Wood all the rest of my lynnen not formerlie bequeathed and also unto the said Anne my sister, the some of thirtie pounds more of currant money all which severall somes of money formerlie bequeathed I will shalbe paid by my Sister Affra Hales within one yeare next after my decease

Item I will unto my said sister Anne, my brother Elmere bond & ye benefit thereof

In consideracion whereof and the better to enable the said Affra to paie my said legacies I doe hereby will and devise unto her the said Affra all and singular my lands, tenements and hereditaments whatsoever with the parishes of Newchurch and Bonyngton or elsewhere within the Countie of Kent to the onlie use and behoofe of the said Affra her heires and assignes for ever, which lands I will the said Affra shall sell soe soone after my death as convenyentlie shee may and with parte of the money arising of the sale thereof she shall as aforesaid paie the legacies before given and the residewe of the moneys arising by the sale of the said lands and premises I will and bequeath unto the said Affra to her owne use

And of this my last will & testament I doe make and ordeyn my loving brother Mr William Hales sole executor
