In the name of God Amen I William Hartrup of the parish of Kemsing in the County of Kent Husbandman being in good health and of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding Praised be God for the same And calling to mind the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of the time thereof Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say
First and principally I resign my Soul to Almighty God who gave it hoping through the merits death and passion of Jesus Christ my blessed Saviour and Redeemer to obtain full and free pardon of all my sins and to inherit eternal life
My Body I comit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named
And as to my worldly Estate I give and dispose of the same as follows that is to say

I give and devise one undivided moiety or half part (the whole into two equal parts to be divided) of the Messuage Tenement or Dwelling House scituate lying and being in Chipsted in the parish of Chevening in the County of Kent with the backside and orchard thereunto belonging containing by estimation one acre of land be the same more or less with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging All which Messuage tenement or dwelling and premisses with the appurtenances now are or late were in the Tenure or occupation of the Widow Christopher Edward Clayton and Mary Wallis or some or one of them their some or one of their undertenants or assigns unto my son William Hartrup of Sundrish in the said County of Kent Husbandman his Heirs and assigns for ever.

And I give and devise the other undivided moiety or half part (the whole into two equal parts to be divided) of the said Messuage tenement or dwelling house and premisses with the appurtenances unto my Daughter Mercy Coomber for and during the term of her natural life

And from and after her decease I give and devise the said last mentioned moiety unto John Coomber son of my said daughter Mercy Coomber and to his heirs and assigns for ever.

And whereas my son John Hartrup will on my death be intitled to the Messuage tenement or dwelling house wherein I now dwell in Kemsing aforesaid And also to another Messuage tenement or dwelling house in Chipsted aforesaid in the occupation of Edward Barden his assigns or undertenants And therefore I give unto my said son John Hartrup the sum of one shilling only to be paid him by my Executrix within one month next after my decease.

All the rest residue and remainder of my Estate whatsoever and wheresoever As well real as personal I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Mercy Coomber her heirs Executors administrators and assigns for ever.

And I do hereby make nominate constitute and appoint my said daughter Mercy Coomber full and sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other Willa by me at any time heretofore made and declaring this only to be my Last Will and Testament.

In Witness whereof I the said William Hartrup the testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Four.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Hartrup the testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and also in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses (The words �the whole into two equal parts to be divided� being first interlined as appears on the other side between the thirteenth and fourteenth lines)

This not to be Registered:

Be it remembered that I William Hartrup the testator named in the above will do hereby give to my Grandson John Coomber my chest of drawers and do order and direct my daughter and Executor Mercy Coomber to deliver the same to him immediately after my death or when he shall demand the same anything in my said Will contrary to the contrary notwithstanding.
And I do declare this to be a codicil to my said will
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this _____ day of ______ in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty _________

This Will was proved at Rochester on the 3rd day of August 1771 Before the Reverend Arnold Carter Clerk a Surrogate by the oath of Mercy Coomber (wife of Thomas Coomber) the daughter of the deceased and sole Executrix in the said will named to whom was granted Administration she having been first sworn duly to Administer.

Till last of November to exhibit an Inventory.
