I give and bequeath unto my Nephew Thomas Baker of Folkestone aforesaid Butcher the sum of one hundred pounds of lawful
Money of Great Britain
And if the said Thomas Baker shall happen to die before the said Legacy shall become payable I do in that case I give and bequeath
the said Sum of One hundred Pounds unto my Niece Mary Major the Wife of Hammerden Major and her Heirs
I give and bequeath unto my Niece Mary Major the sum of one hundred pounds of like lawful Money and if the said Mary Major shall happen to die before the said Legacy shall become payable I do in that case give and bequeath the said last mentioned Sum of One hundred Pounds unto my said Nephew Thomas Baker and his Heirs
I give and bequeath unto my Nephew Thomas Harvey son of my Brother John Harvey the sum of one hundred pounds of like lawful Money and if my said Nephew John Harvey (sic) shall happen to die before the said Legacy shall become due and payable I do in that case give and bequeath the same unto my Nephew John Harvey Brother to the said Thomas Harvey and his Heirs
I give and bequeath unto my present Housekeeper Elizabeth Hawkes the Sum of Fifty pounds of like lawfull Money
I give and bequeath unto my Nephew Robert Harvey Son of my Brother Robert Harvey All that my one undivided
eighth part or share of and in all that good Sloop Cutter or Armed Vessel called the Peggy of
Folkestone aforesaid together with all such Prize Money and all other Moities which shall or
may happen to be due to or on account of the said Cutter or armed Vessel at the time of my
decease and which I shall then be intitled unto
I give devise and bequeath unto my two Brothers Roger Harvey and Robert Harvey All those my two Messuages Tenements or dwelling Houses together with the yard Ground Backside and all and singular the Appurtenances thereof situate lying and being in or near a certain Street commonly called Dover Lane in Folkestone aforesaid To hold the said two Messuages Tenements or dwelling Houses Yard Ground and Appurtenances unto the said Roger Harvey and Robert Harvey their Heirs and Assigns for ever to take as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants
I hereby nominate constitute and appoint John Fuller of Folkestone aforesaid Carpenter and Thomas Page of the same place Schoolmaster Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby give and bequeath unto each of my said Executors the Sum of Ten pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain as a token of Gratitude for the due Execution of the Trust and Confidence I hereby repose in them
I give devise and bequeath all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Real and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever not
hereinbefore given or disposed of unto my three Brothers John Harvey Roger Harvey and Robert Harvey
their Heirs and Assigns for ever equally to be divided between my said three Brothers their
respective Heirs and Assigns share and share alike
Subject nevertheless to the payment of all the aforesaid Legacies my just Debts Funeral Expences the probate of this my last Will
and Testament and all Charges incident thereto And also with the payment of all such
Legacy or Legacies as I shall or may hereafter by any Codicil or Codicils to be annexed to and
made a part of this my last Will and Testament give or bequeath
Further my Will is that my said Executors shall not be accountable for any Losses which shall or may happen in the
Execution of this my Will so as the same be not occasioned by their own wilfull neglect or
default And that neither of them shall be answerable or accountable for the neglect or
default of the other of them but each of them for his own wilful neglect or default only
And my Will and Desire also is that all the Legacies herein and hereby given and bequeathed
shall be paid by my said Executors within twelve Months next after my decease
I hereby revoke all former Wills by me and do declare this only to be and contain my last Will and
Testament in three sheets of Paper together annexed
In Witness whereof I have to each Sheet set and affixed my hand and seal this twenty third day of March in the year of our
Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty Solomon Harvey
Signed Sealed delivered published and declared by the said Solomon Harvey (the Testator) as and for his last Will
and Testament the word “my” in the fourth line of the third Sheet interlined and the Letter
“a” in the last syllable of the word “Messuages” in the fourth line of the second Sheet being
first erased or dashed through in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and
in the presence of each other have subscribed our Names as Witnesses hereto

This Will was proved at London the eighth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight before the Right Worshipful Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of John Fuller the surviving Executor named in the said Will to whom administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased was granted he having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer
