I John Harvey of the Town and Port of Folkestone in the County of Kent Gentleman one of the Jurats of the said Town being sick in body but of sound mind memory and understanding and considering the uncertainty of this Mortal Life do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) First I resign my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator in firm hopes of the forgiveness of my sins through the merits of my Saviour Jesus and my Body I desire to be decently interred in my Family Vault in the Church Yard of the Town of Folkestone at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named

And I order and direct that all my Just Debts be in the first place fully paid and discharged together with the Legacies hereinafter mentioned and the Charges of proving this my will and carrying the same and the intention thereof into Execution

I Give to my Grandson John Harvey and to each of the Children of the Body of my Son that may hereafter be born the Sum of five hundred pounds each to be paid to them respectively when they arrive to the Age of twenty one years

Also I Give unto my Brothers Roger Harvey and Robert Harvey the sum of fifty pounds each
Also I give unto my Cousins Thomas Baker Mary Major his sister the wife of Hammerden Major
John Gittens the Son of Thomas and Mary Gittens and Thomas Wood the son of Richard and Susanna Wood

the sum of fifteen pounds each

Also I Give unto my two Cousins
Margaret Ann and Mary Harvey the daughter of Solomon and Ann Harvey

the sum of ten pounds each to be paid to them when they respectively arrive to the age of twenty one years

I Give to my Cousins
John Fuller Elizabeth the widow of William Nicholls Mary the widow of Daniel Falena and Alice Clouse her sister

the sum of five pounds each

I give and devise unto my Father in Law Samuel Wood during his natural life the House and Premises he now lives in situate in Fishermans Row in the said Town of Folkestone
and after his decease I give the same House and premises unto Ann Wood his daughter my Sister in Law and my servant Mary Hadden during their Joint natural lives and the life of the Survivor of them
and after the decease of the Survivor of them the same House and Premises shall be considered as part of the residue of my Estate herein after mentioned

Also I give unto my said servant Mary Hadden during her natural life one Annuity or clear yearly Rent of ten pounds to be paid to her by four quarterly payments without any deduction whatsoever

Also I Give unto my Brother in law Nicholas Wood during his natural life one Annuity or clear yearly Rent of five pounds to be paid to him by four quarterly payments without any deductions whatsoever the first payment of which said two Annuities to be commence and be paid to them respectively on that day three Months next after my decease
and I charge my Real and personal Estate with the payment of my said Legacies and Annuitys

Also I Give unto the mayor and Jurats of the said Time of Folkestone for the time being for ever the Interest and dividends of two hundred Pounds which I have lately purchased in my name in the three per Cent Consolidated Bank Annuitys to be by them distributed between Christmas Day and Candlemas Day in every year for ever to twenty poor Families Inhabitants of the said Town of Folkestone six shillings each either in Money or Cloaths at the discretion of the said Mayor and Jurats

and as to all the rest residue and remainder of my Real and Personal Estate I Give and devise the same unto my only Child John Harvey and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever
and I direct that all my said Legacies (expect the said Legacies to my Grandson and other the Children of my said son and the said two Children of Solomon and Ann Harvey) shall be paid within six months next after my decease
and in case it should happen that any of my said legatees should dye before their respective Legacies shall become payable then the legacy and Legacies of the Legatees dying shall sink into and be considered as part of the residuum of my Estate

And I do hereby Nominate Constitute and Appoint my said Son and my said two Brothers Roger and Robert Harvey Executors of this my Will hereby revoking all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said John Harvey have to this my last will and Testament contained in three sheets of paper set my hand and seal (to wit) my hand to the two preceeding sheets thereof and my hand and seal to this last sheet of Paper and my seal at the top where the said sheets are affixed together this fifteenth day of November one thousand seven hundred and ninety two John Harvey

Signed Sealed published and declared by the said John Harvey the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses hereto

This is a Codicil to the last Will and Testament of me John Harvey of the Town and Port of Folkestone in the County of Kent Gentleman and one of the Jurats of the said Town bearing date the fifteenth day of November one thousand seven hundred and ninety two

Whereas I have in and by my said Will give unto my Servant Mary Hadden an Annuity of ten Pounds during her life and I am minded to increase the same therefore instead thereof I give her an Annuity of fifteen Pounds a year during her life to be paid to her as in my Will is directed respecting the said Annuity of ten Pounds

Also I give to my sister in Law Ann Wood mentioned in my said will one Annuity or yearly sum of five Pounds to be paid to her during her life in the same manner and at the same times as directed respecting the Annuities mentioned in my said Will

And I do hereby ratify and confirm my said Will in all other respects whatsoever and I declare this to be a Codicil to my said last Will and Testament and to be taken as part thereof
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the nineteenth day of February one thousand seven hundred and ninety four John Harvey

This Will was proved at London with a Codicil the seventh day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four before the Right Honorable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of John Harvey the son and Robert Harvey and Roger Harvey the Brothers of the deceased and the Executor named in the said Will to whom administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased was granted he having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer
