In the Name of God Amen the nyneteenth daye of February and in the eleventh yeere of the Raigne of our Souvraigne Lord [James] by the grace of God King of England France and Ireland defender of the faith etc. and in the xlvijth yeare of his raigne of Scotland [1613/4]
I Serlys Hawker of the p[ar]ish of Challocke in the Countye of Kent Yoman beinge in p[er]fect remembrance for w[hi]ch I doe yeald harty thankes to Allmightie God doe ordaine and make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme followinge
First I bequeath my Sowle into the hands of God who gave it and my bodye to the earth to be buried at the discrecon of my executor heere after to be named

Item I bequeath to the poore of the parish of Challocke to be distributed to them at my funerall fortye shillinges
Item I give unto Joane my wife the fourth parte of all my plate and houshould stuffe excepte all the bedsteddle Cubbards tables formes stooles and wenskott and Charyes the rest I will shall remaine in my Principall Messuage where I now dwell

And the other three partes of my said plate and houshould stuffe I bequeath to Henry Hawker my eldest Sonne for and toward the p[er]formance of this my Will the wch Henry Hawker I make my Sole Executor of this my Will

Item I give and bequeath to my eldest daughters that is to saye Elizabeth Marye and Catherine to eyther of them the some of two hundred pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid to them by my Execut[or] as followeth
First to Elizabeth wtin [within] sixe monethes after my decease
And to Marye and Catherine at there severall ages of eighteene yeares or the daye of there marriage wch shall first happen to eyther of them two hundreth
And I will that my Executor shall allowe and paye to eyther of them the sume of Ten poundes yearlie towards there maintenance untill the porcons which I have given them shall be due the wch some of tenn poundes I will shall bee paid to them quarterlie from the tyme of my death

Item I will that my Executor shall paye to Joane my Wife wtin one yeare after my decease the somme of two hundreth markes of lawfull money of England for the which two hundreth markes I dyd enter into bond to Henry Gibbon her father at the tyme of her marriage

Item I will that if my said wife shall be disposed to remaine and be in my princpall tenem[en]t where I now dwell she shall have the p[ar]ler and the litle Chamber wtin it adjoyninge to the entrye of the same Ten[emen]t untyll such tyme as the yeares wch Robert Odne? hath in the tenem't w[i]th the onelie tyme be expired and then I will that my said wief shall have the same tenement and the hempland to yt duringe her life
And I will that my Executor shall deliver her for her burninge yearly at the same tenement ixe loades of wood

Item I will to her two other daughters Margaret Giles and Jane Giles to eyther of them one ringe of gold of the value of twenty shillings wth my name ingraven upon them

Item I will to Serlys Phillpott, Serlys Gyles, Henry Gyles being in [my] daughters children two eyther of them one peece of Sylver late of the value of fortye shillinges wth my name ingraven upon them and to be delivered to my daughter Gyles for her Children and the eyther [other?] to my daughter Philpotte Child to be delivered to my Wife wtin one yeare next after my decease

Also I will unto my said Wife the best sorte geldinge or mare wch I shall have in my keepinge at the tyme of my death wth all the furniture yt [that] she hath for her rydinge
Item I Will unto ev[e]ry one of my owne brothers & sisters As well of the Wholle bloud as of the halfe bloude to every of them A ringe of gold of the Valew of xvjs [16s] wt a deathes hedd ingraven upon them to be delivered wthin one yeare after my decease

Item I Will unto Serlys Hawker the sonne of my brother Henrye Hawker the sume of fortye shillinges of lawfull money of England to be paid to him at his Age of one & Twenty yeares
Item I Will unto Agnes Hawker the daughter of my brother Henry Hawker the sume of fortye shillinges of lawfull money of England to be paid to her at her Age of eighteene yeeres or the daye of her marriage wch shall first come

Item I will unto every of my servants dwelling with me at the tyme of my death sixe shillings and eight pence of lawfull money of England to be paid wthin sixe moneths after my decease
Item I Will unto Thomas Reulver my Servant fortye shillings yearelie duringe his life to be paid to him by my executor tenn shillinges every quarter
Item I Will to Maler of Lymprye [Lympne?] her house that she now dwelleth in duringe her life payeinge therefore yearlie one pound corne if yt be demanded

This is the last will and Testament of me the said Serlys Hawker concerneinge my Messuages lands Tenements leases and hereditaments made and declared the daye and yeare above written

First my Will is that Joane my wife shall have dureinge the terme of her lief all that my lands at Wycherston in Wye wch I have allreaddy assured her for her Joynture and also I give unto her the said Jone, in recompense of p[ar]te of her joynture wch I have sold, all those my lands in Seasalter called Bales Downe conteyninge by estimacon two & twenty Acres be yt more or lesse all wch I will unto my said wife & be her assureding in use her? naturall life

Item I will unto Gibbon Hawker my second sonne all those my landes in the parrishe of Burmarshe conteyninge by estimacon foure & twenty acres be yt more or lesse to him the said Gibbon Hawker and to his heries for ever

Item I will unto Thomas Hawker my third sonne my tenement and lands in Molashe now in the occupation of William Hills and alsoe all those my lands in Molashe and Wye wch I late boughte of Richard Wood of Canterbury Baker and alsoe the revertion of my lands in Seasalter after the decease of my wife all which premisses I will unto the said Thomas Hawker my sonne and to his heires for ever

Item I will unto Edward Hawker my fourth and youngest sonne all those my Tenne acres of land in the p[ar]ish of Dymchurche to him the said Edward Hawker and his heires for ever all that my moytye [moiety] of one ten't & certaine lands thereunto belonginge to gether wth the moitye of the tile lodge and then the building upon the same lyeing at Naccolte in Wye the rest to him I Will to him the said Edward Hawker and to his heires for ever

Provided allwayes that yf Henry Hawker my brother shall paye unto my sonne Henry one [on] the daye of St. Michaell Thurchangell next coming the some of CClxxvjh [£276] of lawfull money of England to the use of my sonne Edward Hawker and shall give him security for the paym[en]t of twenty pounds unto his sonne Serlys Hawker at his age of one and twentye yeeres Then I will all the said moitye w[i]thall the appurten[a]ncs unto my said brother Henry and to his heires for ever
And then I will that my saide sonne Henry Hawker shall imploye or bestowe the said CClxxvjh eithr in land or otherwise to the best advantage for my said sonne Edward Hawker and shall give him an accompte of the proffitts thereof at his age of one and twentye yeares together wth the principall money or the land bought thereunto the wch I Will to the same Edward my sonne and to his heires for ever

All the residue of my messuages lands and tenements rev[e]rcons leases Chattells & other heriditam[en]ts wch reside? in the Countye of Kent or els where wthin the realme of England not before bequeathed I will and bequeath unto Henry Hawker my eldest sonne and to his heires for ever for and towards the payment of my debts and legacies and the performinge of this my last will
