In the name of God Amen The first daye of Aprill One thouwsand fice hundrethe ninetie and three & in the five and thirtithe [35th] yeare of the reigne of or Sovreigne Ladie Queene Elizabethe
I Edward Hogbean of Elham in the Countie of Kent being verie aged and sicke in my bodie at gods pleasure, but wholl and sound of my remembrannce, thankes be to God, do make this my last will and testament in manner and forme following
First I bequeathe my soule to Allmightie God my maker, and to Jesus Christ my onelie redeemer, by whose pr[e]tious blood sheading I beleeve most stedfastlye to be saved, and to the holie ghost my alone comforter in all my troubles and afflictions whatsoever And I will my bodie to thearthe [the earth] and to be buryed in the Churchyard of Elham aforesayde nighe the place where my wife was buryed

Item I give and bequeathe to the poore of the p[ar]ishe of Elham aforesayde vjs viijd To be payed by my executors; iijs iiijd to be payed at my buriall, and the other three shillings iiijd that daye twelvemonethes by my executor
Item I give and bequeathe to Willm my sonne tenn poundes of lawfull monye of England, to be payed to him by my executor within one yeare nexte after my decease

Item I give and bequeathe to Joane my daughter fowre pounds of like monie to be pd to her by my executor within two yeares nexte after my decease
Item I give and bequeathe to Stephen, Willm, Nicholas, Robert, David and Edward her sonnes either of them twentie shillings of like monye, To be payed unto them by my executor as they shall come to the age of one and twentie yeares And I will that yf anie of them die before they shall come to the sayde age of one and twentie yeares, then I will that the others living shalbe his or theire heire or heires

Item I give and bequeathe to Thomas my sonne, the som of tenn poundes of lawfull monie to be payed to him by my executor within three yeares nexte after my decease
Item I give and bequeathe to the sd. Thomas my sonne five poundes of lawfull monie of England, To be payed unto him by my executor within fowre yeares nexte after my decease
Item I give & bequeathe to Henrie my sonne the somme of five poundes of like monie to be payed to him by my executor wthin foure yeares nexte after my decease

Item I give & bequeathe to the sayde Willm, Joane, Thomas and Henry my children all my Linnen and other things whatsoever, (evidences onelie excepte), whiche is in my great joyned chest, to be equallie devided betweene them ymmediatlie after my decease
Item I give and bequeathe to the sayde Willm, Joane, Thomas and Henry my children all my pewter to be equallie devided betweene them ymmediatlie after my decease
Item I give and bequeathe unto Henrie my sonne, my best fetherbed, one flockbead at his choice and my red blanket, with the underclothe belonging to that bed
Item I give and bequeathe unto Thomas my sonne, my best white blanket and one underclothe
Item I give and bequeathe unto Richard my sonne Henrie his sonne one Cowe nowe in the keeping of the sayde Henrye my sonne

Item I give and bequeathe unto Alice my daughter my joyned chest whiche was her mothers : And I bequeathe unto her one quarter of wheate or twentie shillings of lawfull monie at her choice to be delivred to her within one quarter of a yeare nexte after my decease by my executor
Item I give and bequeathe to Henrie my sone fortie shillings of lawfull monie of England

The residue of all my moveable goods & chattle whatsoevr my debtes legacies and other ordinarie charg[e]s discharged I give wholly to Edward my sonne

Item I ordaine and appointe Henrie my sonne my sole and whole executor of this my last will & testament

Notes:
Edward Hogben was buried at St. Mary the Virgin, Elham, Kent on 24 Jul 1594.
Wife Alyce Hogbean was buried 11 Dec 1589 at Elham.
Daughter Jone Hagbyn married Davyd Hagbyn 7 Nov 1569 at Elham. Their children were baptised at Elham.
