In the Name of God Amen The Twenty fifth day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred & sixteen
I Richard Hallaway of Maidston in the County of Kent being sick & weak of body but of sound & perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament that is to say
Principally and first of all I give & recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it, and for my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executor, nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty power of God
And as touching such Worldly Estate werewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form

Imprimis I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth wife of James Pierce of Chatham carpenter the sum of Thirty two pound five shillings of good and lawful money of Great Britain w[hi]ch I have lent out at Chatham in several percells
I likewise give to my said daughter Elizabeth all my household goods except my Clock and Furnace w’ch I give to my Executor herein after mention’d

Item I give to my son John Hallaway (whom I likewise constitute make and ordain my onely and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament) all my Stock and utencels belonging to my occupation togather with all my ready money bills Bonds & debts Except before bequeathed, he paying out thereof all my Debts & performing this my last Will & Testament
