* James is either the son of Thomas or Robert Ho(l)mes of Canterbury � not clear. Nothing given in
the parish registers, but could pre-date Holy Cross, Canterbury, register as that doesn�t start until
1563. That said, both a Robert and a Thomas Holmes are having children from the earliest dates in that register.
