In the name of God Amen The xxijth daie of Februarie Ann Dini 1615
I Willm. [William] Holmes of ye pish [parish] of Eastchurch in the Ile [Isle] of Sheppey Husbandman beinge very sicke in body but of sound and p�fect [perfect] remembrance thankes bee to God doe make my testament conteining therein my Last will to stand in manner & forme followinge
First I bequeath my Soule into ye hands of allmightie God trusting to bee saved by the merrits & descease of Christe Jesus my moste mercifull redeemer & my bodie to ye earth from whence it came to bee buried in Chsritain burial
And touching ye small porcon [portion] of goods which I inoye [enjoy] I dispose the same in manner & forme followinge

First my will ys for as much as mine estate ys very pooer or Lent ye moste of my late Satty...con [Satisfaction?] by my now wife very younge that my two daughters by my former wife, vizt. Alice and Dirthye [Dorothy] shall have xs a yeere to bee paid them after my wifes decease at such time as my lands hereafter menconed shalbee soulde

And further for as much as my wife whome I make my executor of this my will shalbe driven into a great shright for ye bringinge up of my Children I doe give her all my moveables goods o what nature soever they bee towards ye bringing upp of my said Children And seeing her need and wants at this present times bee greate I will my desire and meaning ys that shee shall as soone as conveniently shee may after my decease make sale of that peece of land that lyeth next to ye land that Thomas Mapleton now occupieth alonge the highway and take that monie to satsfie her present necessities

Item I give unto my said wife the house where I now dwell and all my residew of my said lands about my house during her natural life without making any strippe or waste; and after her decease I give the same house and lands to my Six Children by my now wife, vizt. Thomas, Mathen, William, Stephen, Elizabeth & Joane in manner & forme following, that is to say

My will and meaning and my desire ys that after my wives decease the sayd house and lands shalbe sould and ye monie thereof arisinge to bee divided betweene my said Sixe Children whereof my will ys that my two sonnes William & Stephen being the youngest shall have each of them three pounds more than the other and the rest whatsoever yt bee to bee equally divided betweene the all sixe; And that this may bee the better donne

I give and devise by this my will unto my loveing friends John Pancase John Duffety and Robert Read to Joyne together in the sale of my said house and lands after my wives decease and to receive the said porcons of my Children wch [which] shall comme to them by such sale of my lands in their hands untill they shall accomplish their severall aged of twentie yeares p�vided [Provided] that yf any of my said Children dye before they come to ye saud age, that porcon or porcons of him or them so dynige [dying] to bee equally divided betweene the survivors of them

Item my will ys that my two Daughters by my former wife afore menconed shalbe paid their porcons of a xl [�10] a peece s soone as my aforesayd friends have had sale of my said house and lands Provided allso yt anie of my aforesaid friends doe dye before my said wife my will ys that the Survivors of Survivor of them shall have authoritie to sell the said house and lands for the benifitt & behoofe of my said Children as ys aforesaid

Notes:
William Homes married (secondly) to Elizabeth Charrier on 15th July 1588 at St. Mary, Eastling (about 5 miles from Lynsted).
Their children found (all Christened at SS Peter & Paul, Lynsted): William 16 Aug 1590; Thomas 14 Nov 1591 (Bu: 4 Jul 1597); Thomas 18 Jun 1598; Mathew 11 Nov 1599; Jone 21 Oct 1604; Stephen 11 Feb 1609. Daughter Elizabeth�s christening has not been found as yet.

William�s first marriage has not been found; nor the christening of his two daughters Alice and Dorothy by his first marriage.
William was buried at Eastchurch on 24th February 1615(16).
