In the name of God Amen
I William Holmes of the parish of Iviechurch [Ivychurch] in the County of Kent, Husbandman, beinge weake of body yet of good and perfect memory, thanks be to God therefore, doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme following
First I will and bequeath my Soule into the hands of God my heavenly Father hopeing to bee saved by the all sufficient meritts of Christ Jesus his sonne my only Saviour and Redeemer and my body to bee buryed according to the discretion of my Executrix hereafter mentioned

Item I will unto my wife and Executrix Rebecca Holmes all my goods and chattells of what nature soever shee seeing my two Children now liveing William and Mary Holmes brought upp and educated well and in the best manner shee may and can and the abilitie and meanes which hereby of allow her sufficiency and permitting her till they shall accomplish the age of one and twentie yeares a peece

Excepting allwayes and reserveing oute of the aforenamed and bequeathed goods all chattells all my wearing apparrell, one hatt and two paire of shooes two changes which I hereby will and bequeath to my Brother Thomas Holmes of the parish of Lidd [Lydd] to bee delivered by my wife and Executrix hereafter menconed, shortly after my death

And of this my last will and testament I make my afforesaid wife Rebecca Holmes my whole and sole Executrix

And that this is my last will and Testament I have hereunto set my hand and Seale this p�sent thirtieth day of November in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and eight and thirty [1638]

Notes:
William Holmes is buried at Ivychurch on 20th December 1638 and his Widow Rebecca shortly thereafter on 31st January 1639.
William had been born was christened at All saints Lydd on 26th December 1596, s. of William Homes and Alice (nee Broughton) who had themselves married at Lydd on 24th July 1594.
William Holmes had married in 1629, by Licence:
Homes, William, Yeoman, Widower about 34 and Rebecca Gurner, Widow of Lydd, about 34, relict of Peter Gurner, deceased. At All Saints, Canterbury.

William Holmes�s first marriage had been to Elizabeth Wyatt on 23rd August 1625, at All Saints, Lydd; but she died and is buried at Lydd on 8th January 1628.
Neither of the 2 children mentioned in the Will (Son William and Daughter Mary) have been found.
