In the name of God Amen This 25th day of October 1683
I Thomas Holmes of Whitstable in the County of Kent Fisherman being very sicke and weake in body, but of perfect mind and memory praysed bee God do make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner and former as followeth
First I bequeathe my Soule into the hands of Almighty God my most mercifull Redeemer hopeing thereon Jesus Christ to receive pardon for all my Sinns done upon Earth My body to the earth to bee buried in the Christian buryall at the discretion of my Executrix And as for my Worldly goods I dispose of in manner and forme as following

Item I give and bequeath all my worldly goods I have by Sea of Land my debts and Funerall charges being paid to my Loving Wife Mary Holms and to noe other person but to herself for ever

And this I declare to bee my last Will and Testament revokeing all other Wills and Testaments by mee heretofore made

In Witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seale the day and yeare first above written

Probatum fuit: vicesimo primo [21st] die Nov. 1683

Notes:
8th June 1682. Thomas Holmes married Mary Bray �both of Whitstable� at St. Mary Breadman, Canterbury.
There are no children of this marriage.
From the Marriage Licence we learn he was a Widower � and it turns out, twice!:
5th June 1682 ML Thomas Holmes of Whitstable, seaman, widower and Mary Bray, same parish, spinster, 22. William Ratcliffe of Westbere, husbandman, bonds.
Thomas Holmes had firstly married Mary Richeson at All Saints, Whitstable on 27th June 1664.
No children found of this marriage, either. This Mary died and is buried at All Saints on 8th October 1671.
Thomas Holmes secondly married 17th Jan 1674 to Mary Chillmore, Widow. Not exactly clear when this Mary died.
Thomas was buried at All Saints, Whitstable on 9th November 1683
