In the Name of God Amen I John Holmes of Paddlesworth in the County of Kent Yeoman weake in body but of sound memory praised be God for the same do this thirteenth day of April in the yeare of our Lord Christ 1695 make and declare this my last will and testament and (in!) manner following I do hereby revoke all and every former and other will and wills made by me
Imprimis I give and bequeath my Soul to Almighty God trusting through the alone meritts of Jesus Christ my Redeemer to be eternally saved my body I comitt to the Earth to be Christian like buried att discreson of John Holmes my Son who I do hereby ordaine and make Sole Executor of this my last will and as touching all my goods Cattell and Chattells whatsoever after my debts funerall expences and charges of proving this my will are discharged and paid I do give and bequeath the same unto my said Son John Holmes towards payment of such considerable summe of money as I have theretofore borrowed of him and do now stand indebted to him

This is the last will an Testament of me the said John Holmes the Father made and declared the day and yeare abovesaid touching the disposing of all that my messuage or Tenement (in) which I nowe live with the barne Stable outhouses yards gardens and all the land and hereditaments thereunto belonging with their and every of their appurts. [appurtenances] all which I doe hereby give and bequeath wholy unto the aforesaid John Holmes my said Son and unto his heires and assignes for ever

To have and to hold all and everye my Messuage Lands Tenements and hereditaments aforesaid with theire and every of theire appurts. imediately from and after my decease unto my said Son John Holmes and unto his heires and assigns for ever

In Special Trust and confidence in him exp�sd [expressed] that he will take care for the education and maintenance of my three youngest sonnes Richard George and Joseph Holmes and dispose of every of them to some course or theire better lively nhood (!) subsitence when they shall become capable of Imployment and that he my said Son John when his aforesaid brothers shall capable of imployment do afford unto them and every of them my said three youngest Sons Such pate or parcell out of my Estate after my said Son shall be paid and satisfied the money I am indebted unto him as aforesaid with my said Son John Holmes Shall think equall

and my further trust and confidence in him my said Son John Holmes is that after my said three youngest Sons are growne up and capable of maintaineing themselves I do and shall give out of my estate four �? to every of my other sons and daughters in remembrance of me in Such wise as to my said Son John my Executor shall thinke fitt

In Witness whereof I the said John Holmes the Father have to this my last will and Testament putt my hand and Sealed dated the day and yeare first above written

Notes:
John Holmes (the father) married Mary Harne 10th Dec. 1662 at St. Oswald, Paddlesworth.
John Holmes was buried at St. Oswald, Paddlesworth on 28th April 1695.
Only children I have found are:
Richard Holmes, s. of John and Mary, 12th March 1680 at St. Oswald, Paddlesworth.
William Holmes, s. of � � -, christened there 2 April 1678. (I assume he dies before the Will is written � but no burial found).
George Holmes is buried at Paddlesworth 16th Jan. 1723.

John Holmes Junior appears to have married an Elizabeth ? and had:
