And as to my Worldly Estate both real and personall wherewith it hath pleased God to bless
me I dispose of the same as followeth
I give and devise all my goods Chetts [Chattels] and personall Estate whatsoever and
wheresoever unto my loving Wife Elizabeth for and towards the bringing up Educating and
putting out my Children
I do hereby order and direct that my Executors hereinafter named Shall as soon after my decease as conveniently may be Sell and dispose of all that my Messuage or Tenement with the barn Stables Edifices Buildings Gardens orchards yards outlands and thirty acres of Land arrable pasture and wood more or less to the said Messuage or Tenement belonging or there which now or late used and enjoyed with their and every of their appurts. [appurtenances] Scituate lying and being in the Severall parishes of Lyminge aforesaid and Newington-next-Hythe in the said County of Kent or in one of the said parishes now or late in the tenure occupacon of me the said John Holmes or of my Assignes which I purchased to me and my heires forever (amongst other Lands) or Richard Hogben John Hogben and David Hogben the three Sons and Coheirs of Richard Hogben late of Lyminge aforesaid Linnen Weaver deceased
And my Will is that my Executors thereinafter named Shall out of the money raised by Such Sale thereof fully pay Satisfy an discharge all my Just Debts and funerall Expenses whatsoever And all the Remainder of Such money which shall arise by Such Sale of my Said Messuages Lands and Premisses as aforesaid I also give unto my Said Wife for and towards the better Educating bringing up and putting out of my Children
And further my will and meaning is that if my Said wife Elizabeth Shall happen to be married againe Ten and in Such Case I do hereby give unto all and every of my Seven Children namely George Holmes John Holmes Mary Holmes Elizabeth Holmes Thomas Holmes William Holmes and Anne Holmes the Sume of Ten pounds of Lawfull money of Great Britain apeece to be Severally and respectively paid unto them as they shall Severally attain their respective Ages of one and twenty Years
Item I do hereby nominate and appoint my said loving wife Elizabeth and my loving brother Joseph Holmes Joynt Exors [Executors] of this my last will and Testament And I do hereby renounce and revoke and make void all former and other Wills by me heretofore made
In Witness whereof I the said John Holmes the Testator to this my p�sent Last Will and
Testament contained in this one Sheet of paper have Set my hand and Seale dated this
Eleventh day of June in the Seventh Year of the reign of our Soveraign Lord George by the
Grace of God now King of Great Britain France and Ireland Defender of the ffaith etc.
