In the Name of God Amen
I Bartholomew Holmes of the City of Canterbury Yeoman being very weak and infirm in Body but of sound and perfect Mind Memory and Understanding (praised be God for the same) Do make and ordain my last Will and testament in Manner and Form following that is to say
First and principally I resign my Soul to Almighty God my Creator and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named in humble and sted fast Hope through the alone Merits of my blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ of a joyfull Resurrection to a Life of eternal happiness

And as and for my temporal Estate I give and bequeath unto my Friend Thomas Rigden of the said City of Canterbury Hop planter whom I nominate and appoint to be my sole Executor of this my Will the Summ of five pounds and five shillings of lawfull Money of Great Britain for his care and trouble in the Execution thereof

And all the Rest and Residue of my Goods Chattels Moneys Rights Credits and Estate whatsoever and wheresoever subject to the payment of all my just debts Funeral Expenses and the Charges of proving this my Will
I give and bequeath unto my Father John Holmes my Brothers John Holmes William Holmes and Joseph Holmes and my sister Sarah Holmes equally to be divided amongst them share and share alike

And I do hereby revoke annull and make void all former and other Wills Legacies and Bequests by me at any Time or Times heretofore made published or declared

In Witness whereof I the said Bartholomew Holmes have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Fifteenth Day of March in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and forty seven And in the one and Twentieth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith etc.

The above registered Will of Bartholomew Holmes deceased having etc. Goods etc. was proved the Twenty ninth day of March in the Year of Our Lord 1749 Before the Revd Richard Leightonhouse Clerk lawfull Surrogate to the Worshipfull George Paul Doctor of Laws Commisary General of the City and Diocese of Canterbury lawfully constituted
And Administration of the said deceased�s Goods etc. was granted to Thomas Rigden sole Executor named in the said Will he being first sworn well and truly to perform the same
