In the Name of God Amen
I Walter Holmes of Faversham in the County of Kent Mariner being of Sound and Perfect Mind and Memory (praised be God for the same) Do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)
First and Principally I Resign my Soul to Almighty God in hopes of attaining remission of my Sins and Joyfull and happy resurrection to life Eternal through the alone merits and Mediation of my blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently Interred at the Discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named

Item I Give and bequeath unto my two Brothers Thomas Holmes and George Holmes the Sum of Five pounds a peice to be paid to them by my Executrix hereinafter named within Six Months next after my Decease

Item I Give Devise and bequeath all those my two Messuages or Tenements with their and every of their appurts. [appurtenances] Situate and being in Abby Street in Faversham aforesaid now in the Occupation of my Mother Jane Holmes and Elizabeth Smith unto my said Mother Jane Holmes and her heirs and assigns for ever

And as to all the Rest residue and remainder of my Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever the same shall be at the time of my Decease my Just Debts Legacys Funeral Expenses and the charge of the Probate of this my Will being first therewith and thereout paid and Satisfied
I do hereby Give Devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said Mother Jane Holmes whom I do hereby Constitute and Appoint Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made and Declare this only to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said Walter Holmes have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal the Twenty Seventh day of February In the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Fifty Seven

This Will was proved at London the Twenty Ninth day of December In the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty before the Worshipful James Marriott Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Edward Simpson also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Jane Holmes Widow the Mother of the deceased and Sole Executrix named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased She having been first Sworn duly to administer

Notes:
Walter Holmes was buried at St. Mary of Charity, Faversham on 19th November 1760.
He was one of numerous children of Walter and Jane Holmes, all christened at St. Mary, Faversham:
02 May 1722 John (Bu: 16 Aug 1728); 19 Jan 1724 Walter; 25 Jan 1726 George (Bu: 2 Jun 1726); 23 Jul 1727 George; 17 Apr 1729 Thomas; 03 Nov 1731 Elizabeth (Bu: 8 Jun 1733); 08 Nov 1735 George; 18 Apr 1738 John.

Father Walter Holmes had married Jane Pratt 13th April 1721 at nearby SS Peter & Paul, Ospringe.
Jane Holmes died and was buried at Faversham on 2nd May 1768.
Father Walter Holmes died and was buried at Faversham on 10th February 1750.
Walter Holmes of this Will does not appear to have married.
