This is the last Will and Testament of me Sarah Holmes now residing at Goldwell in the Parish of Great Chart in the County of Kent Spinster

Whereas by a Codicil contained in the last Will and Testament of Sarah Jell deceased the last Wife of Joseph Jell of the said parish of Great Chart dated on or about the Sixteenth day of September in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and Twenty nine and duly executed and attested the Sum of Three Hundred Pounds of lawful British Money is given and bequeathed to me the said Sarah Holmes after the death of my Mother Catherine Ellison the wife of (blank) Ellison then Catherine the Wife of William Holmes the Sister of the said Sarah Jell
Now I the said Sarah Holmes are desirous of bequeathing the said Sum of Three Hundred Pounds in manner hereinafter mentioned if I can legally do so and In the first place I do request my Executors hereinafter named to advance and pay all my just Debts Funeral and Testamentary Expences as soon as conveniently may be after my decease

And I give and bequeath unto my said Mother Catherine Ellison the Sum of One Hundred Pounds of lawful British Money
and I give and bequeath unto Mr. Benjamin Jell of Goldwell in the said Parish of Great Chart the remaining Sum of Two Hundred Pounds provided he survives my Mother the said Catherine Ellison and to be paid to him at her decease
But in the event of his Death in the lifetime of my said Mother then I give and bequeath the said Sum of Two Hundred Pounds to Mary Jell and Jane Jell the Daughters of Thomas Jell of the Parish of Westwell in the said County Yeoman equally share and share alike

Which said last mentioned Sum of two Hundred Pounds I hereby direct shall be subject to and charged and chargeable with the payment of my Funeral and Testamentary Expences and Interest thereon from the time of payment by my said Executor at the Rate of Five Pounds per Centum per Annum

And lastly I hereby nominate constitute and appoint William Henry Furley of the City of Canterbury Gentleman and Robert Furley of the Town of Ashford in the said County of Kent Gentleman Executors of this my last Will

And I do hereby revoke and make void all former Wills Codicils and other Testamentary Papers by me at any time heretofore made and I do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty ninth day of November In the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty two

The Writing contained in this sheet of Paper was signed and sealed by the above named Sarah Holmes and by her published and declared as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our Names in her presence and in the presence of each other
William Sladden Joseph Jell

March 9th 1833 William Henry Furley of Canterbury Gentleman and Robert Furley of Ashford Gentleman the Executors named in this Will were duly sworn as usual and that the Goods Chattels and Credits do not amount in value to the Sum of Four Hundred and Fifty Pound
Before me J. P. Francis, Surrogate. Testatrix died February 1833.

Notes:
Sarah Holmes was buried at Great Chart on 8th February 1833, aged 25 years.
Sarah�s baptism, as daughter of William and Catherine Holmes, is not found.
