I Give Devise and Bequeath All those my Messuages or Tenements with the Garden and
Appurtenances thereunto belonging And also all that piece or parcel of Pasture Land situate
lying and being in the several parishes of Hothfield and Westwell in the County of Kent
And also all my live and dead Stock and Household Furniture And also all and every other
my real and personal Estate and Effects unto my Executors hereinafter named and
appointed and to their Heirs and Assigns
Upon Trust that they my said Executors and the Survivor of them do and shall as soon after
my decease as conveniently may be pay out of my said Estates and Effects (my personal
Estate being first applied thereunto) all my just Debts funeral Expences and the Costs and
Charges of proving and execution of this my Will and then Upon Trust that they my said
Executors and the Survivor of them do and shall receive the Rents and Profits of my said
Real Estate and the Interest and Profit of pf my said Personal Estate and Effects and dispose
of the same for the maintenance of my Wife and Children until my youngest child shall
attain to the age of Twenty one Years * Then to pay and divide the whole of my real and
personal property unto and equally amongst all my said Children share and share alike
* Eliza, the youngest child, was just under 18 at the time the Will was made.
Also I do hereby give full power to my Executors in the meantime and until my youngest Child shall attain the age of Twenty one Years to dispose of my said property real and personal estate in any manner as they in their Discretion shall think proper to and for the Benefit of my said Wife and Children And in case either of my said Children shall die before me leaving lawful Issue the share of such Child so dying shall go to and be disposed pf for the Benefit of his or her said Issue But in case either (? there were 4?) of my said Children shall die before me without lawful Issue the share of such Child so dying as last aforesaid shall go to and be equally divided between my surviving children
And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my Brother Francis Holmes of Sarre in the County of Kent Inn Keeper and my Son George Holmes Executors of this my last Will and Testament

The before registered Will of George Holmes deceased was proved the Twenty fifth Day of October 1834 Before the Receiver John Metcalfe, Clerk, Surrogate to the Worshipful Sir Herbert Turner Knight Doctor of Laws Official General to the Reverend the Archdeacon of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of Francis Holmes Brother of the Deceased and George Holmes Son of the Deceased the Executors named in the said Will They being first sworn duly to perform the same

George Holmes appears to have been born then christened at Westwell on 14th January 1778, s. of Thomas and Elizabeth Holmes.

George Holmes married Ann Holmes at Little Chart on 17th July 1805. Marriage entry
reads: He: of Westwell; She: Minor, otp., with consent of (her) father.
Who this Ann is, is unclear at present � too many choices.
Her burial at Faversham reads: 27 Feb. 1878 Ann Holmes, aged 87.
This would give a birth in 1791 � meaning she was 14 when she married! Ouch....
George Holmes is buried at Faversham on 13th July 1835, aged 57

Wit.: Stephen Stuppell, Mary Holmes, Sarah Wood. There are no children of this 2nd marriage known.
George Holmes (the son and Executor) married Susan Miller on 4th April 1831 at St. Paul, Canterbury. Both were otp.
Witnesses: Thomas Francis Holmes, Eliza Knowler.
