I Give and Bequeath unto my beloved Wife Elizabeth the use of my House as long as she shall think proper to live therein Together with the use of my Furniture Plate Linen China Likewise the Interest of all my Moneys Debts and Securities for money and all other my Goods Chattels property Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever I may die possessed To hold the Benefit of the same due every part thereof to my said Wife as long as she lives Subject nevertheless to the payment thereout of all my just Debts funeral and testamentary Expenses
And further it is my Will and request that she shall not sell my House nor Furniture Plate Linen China etc. neither shall she touch the principal of any of my Monies Securities for Money Goods Chattels property Estate and Effects whatsoever (And if it should so happen that my Wife Elizabeth should die) before my youngest Child should come of Age my Executors are empowered to advance One hundred pounds (as soon as convenient) to each of my surviving Children as they come of age or that my said Wife Elizabeth may be pregnant with and when the Survivor or Survivors are all of Age Then my House Furniture Plate Linen China etc. together with my monies Securities for Money Goods Chattels Property Estate and Effects whatsoever to ebb equally divided share and share alike between my surviving Children or that my Wife Elizabeth may be pregnant with their Heirs Executors and Administrators
But in case any one or more of my said Children should happen to die before he she or they are entitled to his her of their part or share parts or shares of my said Estate and Effects then I Give and Bequeath the part or share or parts or shares to my surviving Child or Children or that my said Wife Elizabeth may be pregnant with or their Heirs Executors and Administrators
And I hereby nominate and appoint my said Wife Elizabeth together with my two Friends Messrs. William Barber and Charles Gravenor both of Dover Pilots joint Executors of this my Will and hereby revoke all former Will and Wills by me at any time or times heretofore made and do hereby declare this only to be my last Will and Testament

The before registered Will of William Read Holmes deceased was proved the twelfth day of January 1837 before the Reverend John Pechey Francis Clerk, Surrogate to the Worshipful Reverend Beaumont Burnaby Doctor of Laws Commissary General of the City and Diocese of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Elizabeth Holmes Widow the Relict of the Deceased one of the Surviving Executors named in the said Will She being first sworn well and truly to perform the same (Power being reserved of making the like Grant to Charles Gravenor the other surviving Executor when he shall apply for the same).

William Read Holmes was christened 11 Jan 1784, s. of William and Elizabeth
Holmes at St. Mary the Virgin, Dover.; 3rd of 4 children, of which just 3 survive.
William Read Holmes married Elizabeth Barber 8th Nov 1819 at St. Mary the Virgin, Dover
and he is buried there, aged 63, on 3rd January 1837.
Elizabeth dies aged 95 and is buried 25 Oct 1887 at St James Dover.
