I desire to be buried in a decent and private manner at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named and that my funeral and testamentary expenses and all debts which shall be justly owing by me at my death may in the first place be duly paid and satisfied
And my will is that my dear Wife Ann Holmes shall and may have and enjoy all the use of all my furniture plate linen and china and glass which shall be in or about my dwelling house at the time of my decease (of which I desire an Inventory may be made and signed by her) and receive and take the rents interest dividends and annual produce of all my real Estate and other my personal Estate for and during her life if she so long continue my widow
And from and after the decease or marriage of my said wife
I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Holmes the sum of Five Pounds
I give devise and bequeath all my real Estate whasoever after payment of my Debts and the
Legacy before mentioned unto and equally between and amongst my Brother in law John
Boorman and all and every my child and children (except the said Henry Holmes) their
respective heirs executors administrators and assigns as Tenants in Common
And whereas I have advanced and may hereafter advance to my children or some or one of them divers sums of Money for their respective preferment in life Now I hereby direct that all and every the sum or sums of money advanced or to be advanced by me to any of my said children as aforesaid respectively shall be taken and considered as part of the share or respective shares of such children respectively of and in the estates monies and premises respectively devised and bequeathed to them by this my will
And I declare that all sums of Money owing to me at my decease from any of my said children and whether secured by Bond Note or otherwise or not shall be deemed and taken to be Monies advanced by me for their respective preferment as aforesaid within the true intent and meaning of the aforesaid clause and direction And that no such Debt as aforesaid shall be deemed to be barred by the Statute of Limitations
I give and devise all mortgage and trust estates which may be vested in me unto the said John Boorman my son in Law, John Caister and Edward Watts of Hythe in the said County of Kent Gentlemen their heirs executors administrators and assigns subject to and upon the equities and trusts affecting the same
I nominate and appoint the said John Boorman, John Caister and Edward Watts of Hythe
Executors of this my will and do declare that my said Executors shall not be charged with or
accountable for any more monies and premises than they shall respectively actually receive or
shall come to their respective hands by virtue of this my will nor any loss which shall happen of
the said monies and premises nor one for the other of them but each of them only for his own acts and defaults
And that it shall be lawful for my said Executors out of the monies which shall come to their
hands respectively to reimburse themselves all such costs as they shall respectively sustain by
reason of the trusts hereby in them reposed
And lastly I do hereby revoke all former wills by me at any time heretofore made
In Witness whereof the said William Holmes the Testator have hereunto set my hand this
Twenty first day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty seven

Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence at his
request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses attesting the same

The before registered Will of William Holmes deceased was proved the Twenty sixth day of July 1847 before the Worshipful Sherrard Beaumont Burnaby, Doctor of Laws, Official General to the Reverend the Archdeacon of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of John Boorman, John Caister and Edward Watts, the Executors named in the said Will, they being first sworn (by Commission) duly to perform the same.

William Holmes married Ann Boorman 12th May 1810 at St. Nicholas, New Romney.
