Item I bequeath and will to Twentye poore people of this pishe of Ashe aforesaid uerely by and duringe the space of Seaven yeres next after my decease to each of them one Coate or garment worth sixe shillinges Eight pence the First thereof to be delyvered to them at my buryall and that be the discretion of my Overseer or his Assignes yet my will and mynde is that none of the said poore people shall have any of the said Coates or garments two yeares together
Item I will & bequeath to Elizabeth my wyffe One hundred poundes of lawfull Englishe money to be paid her w[i]thin twoe moneths next after
my decease Also I geve unto my said wyffe sixe of my best kyne, twoe of my best geldinges wth their furniture for her and her man, And
alsoe I gyve unto her thone [the one] halfe of all my houshold stuffe both of lynnen woollen brasse and pewter, And alsoe I doe gyve unto her my
said wyfe Tenn pounds of lawfull money of England to bye her plate wthall
The Residue of all my said houshold stuffe I will shalbe equally devided among all my Children
Item I gyve and bequeath unto Anne my daughter Syxe hundred pounds of lawfull money of England To be paid unto her when she shall
Accomplishe her age of Eighteene yeres
Item I doe gyve and bequeath unto Edward Tyllman my godsonne Fortye shillings of lyke money to be bestowed for him upon a peece of plate
to his use
Item I doe gyve and bequeath unto everye of my Neeces Bennett Courtye, Bennett Parramore, Elizabeth Bateman and Margaret Huffam my
goddaughters to each of them Three pounds sixe shillinges and Eighte pence of lyke money to bye for each of them one peece of plate excepte
for my said neece Elizabeth Bateman whose aforesaid legacie of Three pounds sixe shillinges and Eighte pence I will shelbe
bestowed or layed owt upon a Cowe for her
Item I give unto every of my man servannts sixe shillinges eighte pence a peece
and I doe also gyve unto every of my mayde servannts Five shillings a peece
Item I wyll and bequeath unto Mychaell my sonne when he shall Accomplyshe his full age of Twentye and one yeres my leases termes of yeres
and Interests and all that righte and assurance the w[hi]ch I have or ought to have in all those lands heretofore pchased by my mother and my
selfe joyntlye or sevrallye of Sr Thomas Engeham nowe knighte
And in the meane tyme before the said Michaell my sonne shall Accomplishe his sayde age of Twentye and one yeres my will is that my Executors or
the Survivor of them shall take upp the profitts of all and singuler my lease lands towards the p[er]formance of this my last will and Testament
Item I doe gyve and forgyve John Wayman? my Tenante and Servante all that he doth nowe owe mee
The residue of all and singuler my goods and Chattells whatsoever unbequeathed my debts legacies and funerall expencs discharged and payed I doe gyve and bequeath unto my twoe youngest sonnes Edward and Solomon equallye to be shifted and devyded betwene them at their severall ages of Twentye and one yeres except the profitts of the manor of Ringwolde and all other those landes the wch I holde by lease of the right Honorable the Lorde Wootton of Marleigh [Marley?] the wch I will shalbe recyved by my Executors or the Survivor of them and thereof to make? an Accompte and paye the same unto my sonne Michaell at his age of Twentye and one yeares
And I doe make and ordeyne my Unckle Vallentyne Austen and my Brother Thomas Parramor Executors of this my last will or Testament
and my brother Stephen Huffam Overseer thereof
This is the laste will and Testament of me the said Richard Huffam made wrytten and declared in the daye and yeare abovesaid Touchinge the dispotyon [disposition] of all my lands & Tents. and hereditaments whatsoever as followeth
First I will and bequeath unto Solomon Huffam my sonne all thos(e) my landes wth their Appurten[a]ncs Conteyninge by estimacon Thirtye acres
be they more of lesse lyeinge at Hillsborowe in Ashe aforesaid; And alsoe all that my Messuage or Ten[emen]te and lands Conteyninge bye
estimacon Tenn acres be they more or lesse scituate or beinge at or neere Weddenton in Ashe aforesaide wth their Appurtenncs the wch I lately
purchased of George Rose and Robte. Powte, And one Mershe or pcell of pasture Conteyninge be estimacon Tenn acres lyeinge at or neere
Brooke Streete in Ashe aforeaide sometymes in the occupacion of Henry Harflete wth thappurtennces
And those peeces or p[ar]cells of Mershe land conteyninge by estimacon sixe acres lyeinge in Goshale [Goss Hall] valley in Ashe aforesaide wth
thappurtenncs nowe in the occupacon of Robt. Parrett, And one peece or pcell of Mershe land Conteyninge by estimacon one acre lyeinge in
Goshale valley aforesaide wth thappurtenncs nowe in the occupacon of Wyddowe Bynge or her Assignes, And
alsoe all that one peece or pcell of pasture Called Frydde conteyning by estimacon nyne acres be yt more or lesse wth that one smale pcell of
lande conteyninge by estimacon eighten p[er]ches thereto adjoyninge together lyeinge in Ashe aforesaid with their Appurtenncs, All and singuler
wch said messuages or Tents. landes marshes pastures and hereditaments wth their and every of their appurtenncs I give and bequeath unto him the
said Solomon Huffam and to his heires ymediately from and after Thaccomplishement of his full age of Twentie and one yeares;
And I do gyve and bequeath unto Edward Huffam my sonne all those my landes lyeinge in Fletefelde Bridges Close and Sande Hills in Ashe aforesaid
Conteyninge by estimacon Thirtie acres be they more or lesse wth their appurtenccs, And alsoe all those my marshes lyeinge in
Ashe aforesaide called Lowten Conteyninge by estimacon Fyfteene acres be they more or lesse wth thapputenncs, And alsoe all that my Marshe called
Rongboroughe Conteyninge by estimacon Ten acres be yt more or lesse lyeing in Flete valley in Ashe aforesaide wth thappurtenncs
And alsoe those my twoe pcells of Marsheland whereof thone contenyth be estimacon eight acres and thother Conteynth by estimacon fyve acres be
they more or lesse wth Thappurtenncs lyeinge neere Brooke Streete in Goshale valley aforesaid, And alsoe all that my smale pcell of Marshelande
Conteyninge by estimacon halfe an acre be yt more or lesse lyeinge at or neere petelane in Ashe aforesaide, All wch aforesaide lands marshes
and hereditamts soe as aforesaide gyven and bequeathed unto the saide Edward Huffam, I doe gyve and bequeath the same wth their
and every of their Appurtenncs unto the saide Edward Huffam and his heires and assignes for ever ymediatlye from and after Thaccomplishmt of his
full age of Twentie and one yeres
And my will is that yf either of my said sonnes Edward or Solomon shall dye before they severallye accomplishe thadge [the age] of Twentye and one yeres wthowt yssue of their bodyes lawfully begotten, then thone of them to be thothers heires in Fee simple thereof
Item I give and bequeathe unto Edward Saunder my brother in lawe all those lands conteyninge by estymacon One hundred acres be they more or less wth Thappurtenncs lyeinge wthin the Isle of Thannet the wch I purchased of my Father in lawe Edward Saunder and my Unckle in lawe Bartholomew Saunder To have and to holde the same unto the said Edward Saunder my brother in lawe and to his heires and assignes for ever
And I doe gyve and bequeath unto Michaell Huffam my sonne my principall messuage wherein I nowe dwell and all the Residue of my lands pastures and hereditaments whatsoever in Ashe aforesaid or else where not before gyven Charged as hereafter by this my last will is lymited To have and to holde the same wth their and every of their Appurtenncs unto the said Michaell Huffam my sonne and to his heires and assignes at his full age of Twnetie and one yeres;
And I doe gyve and bequeath unto Elizabeth my wyfe one yerelye rent of Twentye pounds of lawfull money of England for and duringe the terme of her naturall lyffe owte of all that my messuage and all those my lands and hereditaments soe as aforesaid gyven or bequeathed into my said sonne Michaell (over and above those Twentye pounds by yeare graunted by me to her before mariage for her Joynture)
Provided allwayes that yf my said sonne Michaell his heires or Assignes or his or their garden [guardian] or any other p[er]son or psons by his
or their or any of their right shall avoyde or make frustrate the said Joynture of Twentie pounds by yeare as aforesaid made by me to
my said wyffe by maryage Then I doe Further give and bequeath unto my said wyfe one other yerelye rent charge of Twentye poundes of lyke money
durigne her naturall lyfe owt of all that my said messuage and that my said landes and hereditaments soe as aforesaid gyven unto my saide
sonne Michaell
The said yerelye rent Charge or rente Charges to be payed unto my said wyffe or her Assignes att twoe Feasts in the yeare (vizt. of Thannuntyation
of our Ladye and St. Michaell Tharchangell by even portions) The Firste payment thereof to begynn at that Feaste of thaforesaid twoe Feasts
the wch shall next happen after my decease,
And yf and soe often as yt shall happen the said yerely rent Charge or rent Charges or anye of them or any parte or pcell of them or of any of them to be behinde and unpayde after any of the saide twoe Feasts in wch as aforesaide the same ought to be payde, That then and soe often yt shall or maye be lawfull to and for my said wyfe or her Assignes unto all and singuler the saide messuage lands and hereditaments soe as aforesaid gyven or bequeathed unto my said sonne Michaell and into every parte and pcell thereof to enter and distrayne and the distresse or distresses there soe taken or fownde from there to beare leade dryve Carrye away ympounde and keepe untyll the same soe beinge behinde and unpayed and tharrerage [the arrearage] thereof yf any be shalbe fullye satisffyed Contented and payed
Provided alwayes that yf my said wyffe doe Challendge or demaunde any Dower or Further benefytt from or owt of any my aforesaid landes Tents or hereditaments then such as by this my last wyll or Testament is lymited or owght by her to be had or enjoyed That then my sayd wyfe shall reapre or enjoye noe benefitt or Comodytye by this my last will any thinge before therein in anye wyse not wthstandinge
Provided alsoe that yf my said sonne Michaell at his full age of Twentye and one yeres or at any tyme after or his garden in the meane tyme or
t'heires of the said Michaell doe enter upon a third parte of any or either of the landes or hereditaments of my said twoe youngest
sonnes Edward and Solomon (yf any of the same be holden by knight servyce or any parte of pcell thereof)
That then yt shall or may be lawfull to and for my said twoe youngest sonnes or any of them or my Executors or the Survivor of them to enter upon
as much of the lands before bequeathed unto my sayde sonne Michaell by this my last will as shall Countervayle? the same thirde parte to holde
the same to them and to their heires untyll the said Michaell or his heires shall release unto my sayde two youngest sonnes and either of them and
theire heires all his or theire right and demaunde in the said lands soe as aforesaid bequeathed unto my saide twoe youngest sonnes Edward and
Solomon
And my will and mynde is that my aforesaid Executors and the Survivor of them shall by and duringe the nonage or mynorytye of my aforesaid
sonnes Michaell Edward and Solomon and duringe the nonage or mynoritye of every of them receyve and take the yerelye proffytts of all
mye messuages lands Tents marshe pastures & hereditaments towards theducation of all my Children and payeinge my debts legacies and alsoe payeinge
my mothers yerely Annuytye or rent heretofore graunted to her wither by my Father or by myselfe And alsoe my wyfes yerelye rente charge soe
as aforesaid to be payde
And alsoe for the discharginge of Lords rents and the reparacons of all my said howses and all other requisite charges and thereof to make unto
every of my said three sonnes at their severall ages of Twentye and one yeres a severall Accompte (in the presence of my said Overseer yf he
shalbe then lyveinge) and th'overplus thereof remayninge to be equallye shifted payed and devyded among them
In Wittnesse whereof I the saide Richard Huffam have caused this my last will or Testament to be made and written wthin these Fyve sheets of
paper and the same to be openlye read and thereto have sett my hande and seale in the presence of my loveinge Frendes whose at my request have
subscribed their hands unto every sheete thereof as wittnesses of the same;
