Joseph Huson of Tenterden in the County of Kent Gentleman, dated 29 December 1737

Whereas by certain indentures of Lease and Release bearing date 25 and 26 January 1724, ... between me of the first part, Joseph Viny of Tenterden gentleman of the second part & John Hammon and Edward Silcock both of Tenterden, gentlemen of the third part, I did convey to John Hammon and Edward Silcock... all those peices of land formerly called ... Dean Court piece and the eighteen acre piece containing by estimation Fifty acres more or less lying and being in Brenzett and Brookland ... And by the said indenture tripartite I did assign over to John Hammon & Edward Silcock all my personal Estate .... to severall Trusts .... [now revoked]

To Mr John Russell of Tenterden �100 in trust to pay the interest to Mrs Hammon widow of the late Reverend Mr John Hammon deceased for her life
And after her decease the principal sum to nne and Mary Hammon their 2 youngest daughters equally.

To Edward Silcock �50
To Mr Jeremiah Curties and the said Mr Joseph Viny �60 to be distributed among the poor at Tenterden
To my cousin John Potter Esquire �500 and to his sisters Sarah Potter, Elizabeth Osborne and Anne Potter �50 apiece
To my cousin Hannah wife of Mr Petter of Sandhurst �100
To William Benton of Sandhurst �50 and to his eldest son John Benton �50
To the Reverend Mr Mirremoth of Tenterden �50
To Mr James Sharp surgeon in Tooley Street in Southwark �100
To Mr Humfrey Wightwick of Tenterden �50
To Mr Richard Rabson of Ashford �50
To Mr James Blackmore senior and Mr William Blackmore both of Tenterden �50 each and 10 guineas each for mourning

To John Standen of Guestling, James Standen of Sandhurst, Elias Standen of Sandhurst, Edward Standen, Sarah Standen, Elizabeth Standen and Mary Standen the children of the said Margaret Standen, widow, �50 apiece
To the said James Standen �50 in trust for the use of the children of William Standen of Rolvenden weaver, another child of said Margaret
To Mrs Russell wife of said Mr John Russell �25
To my old friend and servant John Carsingham �40
To my late servant maid Mary Nunn now wife of Thomas Samson �25
To my now servant maid Mary Wilmshurst �25 and �6-6s for mourning

Whereas my late brother Peter Huson did in and by his last Will & Testament declare that in case my brother Joseph my executor should die without issue, his executor shall pay to my brother Mr Elisha Freebody �200 within 3 months, I have conveyed several pieces of fresh marsh land in Iden, Sussex, in a certain Levell called Iden Levell and also 6 pieces of marsh land called Craven Land in Iden, then in the possession of Edward Wilmshurst to Oliver Horsman and Sollom Emlyn of Lincolns Inn, Middlesex Esquires and their heirs upon several uses and trusts ... for the term of 500 years ... to raise the sum of �200 for Elisha Freebody

Now I do hereby devise my said lands charged with the sum of �200 as aforesaid and also my lands commonly called the new Ended Lands in Iden unto the said Joseph Viny and his heirs, being charged with the payment of my just debts, legacies and funeral expences in case my personal Estate shall not be sufficient to pay the same.

I give & devise the Mannor of Barn Grange otherwise Le Grange together with all the Messuages Lands and Tenements in Iden which were devised to me by the last Will and Testament of my late nephew John Huson late of Grays Inn London Esquire, subject to the Dower of Sarah Huson widow of my said nephew John, and also all that piece or parcel of Woodland commonly called Corkewood containing by estimation 80 acres in Iden, also all those my lands commonly called the Grubbed Lands in Iden between the Great and Less Corkewood with all appurtenances, to said Joseph Viny his heirs and assigns for ever

I give and devise all those my Lands lying in the Channell with the Forelands thereto adjoining containing by estimation 3 acres 39 perches lying between the Lands lately in the tenure of Edward Wilmshurst in Iden and now in the hands of the Commissioners of Sewers for the Levell commonly called Wittersham Levell, and also those other lands lying in the Channell with the forelands adjoining containing 6 acres in Iden between the lands in the tenure of John Inman and certain other lands late of one Sir George Choute Baronet and since conveyed by him to one John Blackmore gentleman and now also in the hands of the Commissioners of Sewers, also all those my lands and hereditaments lying in the Indraughts or elsewhere above Blackwall in the parishes of Berkley and Peasmarsh, Sussex now in the possession of the Commissioners of Sewers to the said James Blackmore the elder and William Blackmore and the survivor of them and the heirs of such survivor In Trust
To pay the first half years rent to the said Joseph Viny my executor
And afterwards during the life of said Peter Freebody to pay one moiety of the rents to said Peter Freebody, and the other moiety among his sons equally for their maintenance until aged 21
After decease of said Peter Freebody, to raise �200 out of the said moiety for the use of his daughters If he leaves no daughters, then to convey all my said lands to the sons of Peter Freebody and their heirs as tenants in common

I give and devise all my lands ... lying in Rolvenden now in possession of Philip Norris and also the Three Acre Wood in my own occupation near to Farmwell Wood in Kent to William Benton for his life
After his decease to his son John Benton and his heirs for ever.

As to all those 2 pieces of land formerly called Newland Gatepiece and now divided into two pieces called Dean Court piece and the Eighteen acre piece containing 50 acres lying in Brenzett and Brookland I give the same to the said James Blackmore the elder William Blackmore and Joseph Viny and the survivors and survivor of them and the heirs of such survivor.

To my good friend Mr James Blackmore the younger my diamond ring which I received from him as a token of his favour ...
To my said cousin John Potter I give my Rose diamond Ring

All the rest residue and remainder of my Estates real and personal ... unto Mr Joseph Viny whom I make & appoint Sole Executor ...

Codicil dated 9 May 1738

Re �100 unto Mr John Russell of Tenterden in trust to pay the interest to Mrs Hammon widow for life, and the principal to her youngest daughters
Now I do revoke the payment to Mr John Russell, and bequeath to said Mrs Hammon �5 per year for life, and after her decease, the principal sum of �100 to be divided between Mrs Russell wife of Mr John Russell, Ann and Mary Hammon, the 3 daughters of Mrs Hammon widow.

Whereas I gave �50 to Mr Humfrey Wightwick, I do revoke the same, and give the �50 to be divided between Elizabeth & Hannah Wightwick.
Whereas I gave �25 to Mrs Russell wife of John, I now revoke the said legacy.
To my now servant man Richard Inhurst �5.
Witnessed by John West, Thomas Pauley, Wm. Fisher.

This Will was proved at London with a Codicil annexed 5th July 1738 ... by the oath of Joseph Viny the executor ...
