In the name of God Amen
I Robert Idley of the parish of Saint John the Baptist in the Isle of Thannett and County of Kent sick of body but of perfect memory (God bee thanked therefore) doe make and ordayne this my last will and testament in manner and forme following
First I bequeath my Soule into the handes of Almighty God hoping by the merritts of the Lord Jesus Christ my blessed Savior to obteyne the remission of my sinnes and eternall life in his heavenly kingdom And my body to the Earth to bee decently buried att the discrecon of my Executrix hereafter menconed
And for the temporall goodes and estate wherewith it hath pleased God to blesse withall

First I give and bequeath unto my loving Wiffe Martha All that my Mssuge [Messuage] or tenement scituated in the said parish of Saint John the Baptist abovesaid Togeather with two acres of land thereunto belonging with all and singuler the appurtenances lyeing at a place there Comonlly called East Nordowne during the Terme of the naturall life of her the said Martha
And after the decease of her the said Martha unto my sonne John Idley and to his heires forever Item I give and bequeath unto my said wife Martha All my moveable goods Chattells and credditts whatsoever
And my Will and meaning is that my said wife Martha shall have and enjoy the said moveable goods and the proffitts of my said lands for the payment of my debts and discharging of my Funerall expences and what shalbee left or Overplus of the said moveable goods I will equallie to bee divided betweene my two daughters Martha Idley and Anne Idley equally betweene them to bee divided
And the said sumes of money arising of the overplus of my land goods I will equallie as abovesaid to bee paid unto my two said daughters when they shall accomplish or either of them shall accomplish her or their age or ages of sixteene yeares

But if it happen my said sonne to depart this life without heires of his body lawfully to bee begotten that then my will is that my said house and lands shall come and descend unto my two said daughters Martha Idley and Anne Idley and to their heires forever

Lastly I give and bequeath unto my Sister Mary the wife of John Russell the sume of five shillings of Lawfull English money to bee paid unto the said Mary my Sister within Five yeares next after my decease

And I doe constitute and make Martha my wife sole Executrix of this my Last will and Testament
In Witness whereof I have sett my hand and seale the first day of Aprill in the two and twentieth yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King etc. Anno dini Christ one thousand six hundred Forty six

Robert Pierce per Signum - John Bustier - William Reader

This will was proved the twenty eight of June One thousand six hundred Fifty three before the Judges for probate of wills and grantinge Administracons apointed by Act of parliament Intituled “An Act for probate of wills and granting Administracons” by the Oath of Martha Idley the Relict and Executrix named in the said Will To whom Admministracon was Comitted they being first Legallie sworne truely to Administer the same.

Martha Idley was christened 14th December 1634, d. of Robert and Martha Idley, at St. John the Baptist, Isle of Thanet
Anne Idley was christened 30th March 1642, at the same place.
