Will of Peter Inkpet

And I will at the daye of my buriall iijs iiijd to be distributed unto the poor people in bread and drincke
And at my monythes [month’s] mynd I will vs to be gyven in breade and drincke to the poor
Also at my yeares mynde I will xiijs iiijd to be bestowed in bred and drincke for the necese [necessity] of the poor
And from that my yeares mynd for the tyme of iij yeares then next followinge I will xiijs iiijd yearlye duringe the said iij yeares to be distributed unto the poor people at the discretion of my executor

Item I bequethe and give to my son John one Seame of wheate and one seame of barlye to be delyvered unto him wtin [within] on yeare after my decease
Item I bequeithe to Henry my son xls whereof xxs I will to be delyvered to him wtin one yeare next after my decease And the residue I will to be delyvered to him in the second yeare after my decease
Also I will to the same Henrye iiij seames of barley to be delyvered to him in the seconde yeare after my decease

Item I bequeith to Thomas my son xij ewes, vj of them to be delyverid to him wtin one yeare next after my decease And the other vj to be delyverid to him the second yeare of [after] my decease
Also I bequeith to the same Thomas fyve seames of barlye two of them to be delyverid to him wtin one yeare next after my decease and th[e ]other iij seames full of the foresaid fyve seames of barley to be delyverid to him in iij yeare after my decease
Item I bequeithe to the same Thomas my son too yijmonthinge * calves to be delyverid to him wtin one yeare next after my decase

And yf it happen that aney of my foresaid ij sonnes Henrye or Thomas to dye before the(y) recyve of ther(e) legaces as before to them as bequeithed then I will suche legaces as are to him so deceased legated and bequeithed shalbe dd [delivered] to the longiste lyver of them too [two]

Item I give and bequeithe to Arnolde my son vj ewes and iij seames of barley to be delyverid unto him when he comethe to the age of xij yeares
Item I give and bequeithe to William my son vj ewes and iiij seames of barley to be delyverid unto him when he comythe to hage [the age] of telve yeares
And if it happen that aney of thes(e) my too sonnes Arnold or William to dye before thage xij yeares then I will the legacey of him so deceased to the longest lyver of them too at suche tyme as he so deceased sholde have had it

Item I bequeith to Isabell my daughter xxvjs viijd to be paid unto her at the daye of her mariage
Item I bequethe to Johan my daughter iiij yonge shepe of too yeares age to be delyverid to her wtin one yeare after my decease

Item I give and bequeithe to Thomseyn my Wif the one half of my howsholde stuffe And th[e ]other half of my houshold stuffe I give and bequeithe to Stephen Inkpet my son equallye to be devided betwene them too
Excepted such of the said howshold stuffe one cupborde, a spit and one brasse pot w[hi]ch resarved to my mansion howse by my fathers will

Also I bequeith to Thomesyn my wif one kowe a seame of wheate and too of barley to be delyverid ymediatlye [immediately] after my decease
Also I will that Thomesyn my wif shall have th'use of my parler wherin it nowe lye wtin my mansion howse at Elmested aforesaid
And she to have meate and drincke wtin my son Stephin dwellinge in the same howse as longe as she kepithe herselfe Widow

Item I give to Harry, David and Margaret children of my son John Inckpet to ethi of the said children one ewe and one lambe And unto Rose their Suster [Sister] I give one ewe lamb to be delyvrid unto them in the thir yeare of my departinge

Item I give and bequeithe to Steaphen my son all my leases that I have or might have and suche leases as are to me promised wtall maner of profectes [profits] to them belonging And all maner of corne ther(e) uppon growinge and beinge And all my corne ells wher [elsewhere] growinge and beinge
Also I will and give to the same Stephen my son the reste of all my moveable goodes and cattall not bequeithed to parforme [perform] my last will and testament and do paye my debtes

And I make and ordeigne him to be my executor onelye of this my laste will and testament
and I appoynt Arnold Duelye to be my overseer of the same And to him for his paynes takynge ther in I give and bequeathe iijs iiijd

This is the laste Will and testament of me the foresaid Peter Inkpet made the daye and yeare first above written for and concerninge the devision of my lands and tenths

First I give to Stephen my son my tente [tenement] at Maxsted, gardens, orchards and owt howses to the same tente. belonginge wtall my lands, pastures, medowes, landes arable and unarable, woodland And all maner of my landes whatsoever to the said tente. apartaynynge [appertaining] and belongynge lyenge and beinge wtin the foresaid parishe of Elmested, Stowtinge, Horton [Monks Horton] And wtin the said countie of Kente
To have and to holde the foresaid tente. and the premisses with ther apprtennces and all my landes whersoever wtin the said countie of Kent lyenge in all maner of profectes to the same belonginge and therof comynge to the foresaid Stephen Inkpet my son and to the heyre males of his body lawfully begotten

And for default of suche heyre males of his bodye lawfully begotten I will my foresaid tente. and all my foresaid lands wt the premisses and ther apprtennces to the same tente. and lands belonginge and appartaynyng to Thomas my son and to the heyre males of his bodye lawfully begotten
And if it happen the said Thomas to dye wtout aney suche heyre male then I wil my foresaid tente. and landes wtall the premisses shall remayne unto Arnold my son and to his heyre males of his bodye lawfully begotten
And yf the said Arnold dye wtout aney suche heyre males then I will my said tente. and lands wt the premisses and profectes to the same belonginge to my son William and to the heyre males of his bodye lawfully begotten
And for default of suche heyre males of the said William my son I will my foresaid tente. and landes wt the premisses and ther appurtennces shall remayne to my son Harry and to the heyre males of his bodye lawfully begotten

And thus thankes be given to God I have fynyshed and ended the disposicion and order of th[e ]intente of my last will and mynde in the doinge of my worldly goodes and cattells to my children
And desyringe God most harten to give eche of them suche guiftes in suche sorte that it maye be to the honer and glorye of God and for the helthe of ther sowles
And heare my O my dere children And remembre that I doo straythe chardge and comannde youe all to halyve alwaye in the feare of God and that youe be allwayes dilligent earnest and sarvant in learnynge to knowe the laws of o[u]r rightious God and that youe be followers thereof wherby you shall please the lord ower God here I leve to youe this my chardge and comanndment in writing that youe may have it alwayes in youer remembrannce Receaving and takinge the same to be aswell my will and mynde as my part or clause above resited as knoweth God to whose blessed tuycion and kepinge I comytt youe all bothe bodye and sowle for ever and ever amen
