In the name of God Amen
I George Jarvis the Elder of Tenterden in the County of Kent Carpenter being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding (Praised be God for the same) Do make this my last Will and Testament in writing in manner and form following (that is to say)

First I give and devise all that my Messuage or Tenement and Premises with the Appurtenances situate lying and being in the Town of Tenterden aforesaid adjoining the Church yard there and now in the Occupation of my Son William Jarvis unto my said Son William Jarvis his Heirs and Assigns for ever

Also I give and devise all those my Woods and Woodlands with the appurtenances situate lying and being in the several Parishes of Warehorne, Orlestone, Shadoxhurst and elsewhere in the said County unto my Grandson John Jarvis and my daughter in Law Elizabeth Jarvis for and during the term of their natural Lives and the Life of the longer liver of them
And immediately from and after the decease of my said daughter Elizabeth Jarvis or second Marriage which shall first happen Then I give and devise all and every the said Woods Woodlands and Premises with their and every of their Appurtenances unto my said Grandson John Jarvis His Heirs and Assigns for ever

Also all the Rest and Residue of my Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever that I shall be possessed or interested in or any wise intitled unto I give and devise unto my said Grandson the said John Jarvis his Heirs and assigns for ever

Also I give and bequeath unto my said Son William Jarvis the Sum of Seventy five Pounds of good and lawfull Money of Great Britain to be paid to him in three Months next after my decease by my Executor hereafter mentioned
Also I give and bequeath unto my Son George Jarvis the Sum of Two hundred and seventy five Pounds of like Money to be paid him in three Months next after my decease by my Executor hereafter mentioned
Also I give and bequeath unto my said Daughter in Law Elizabeth Jarvis the Sum of Fifteen Pounds of like Money to be paid her in three Months next after my decease by my Executor hereafter mentioned

Also I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Elizabeth Jarvis one Bed and Furniture thereto belonging and two good pair of sheets, one Clock, one Tea Table, six Pewter Plates and the best Looking Glass to be delivered to her immediately after my decease by my Executor hereafter named

Also all the rest and residue of my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever and not by me before given or bequeathed my just debts, Legacies aforesaid, Funeral Expences, Probate of this my Will and all other charges incident thereto being first paid and satisfied I give and bequeath unto my very good friend Mr. Jeremiah Curteis of Tenterden his Executors and Administrators

Upon Trust that the said Jeremiah Curteis do and shall as soon as conveniently may be after my decease sell and dispose of all the rest and residue of my said Personal Estate and the Moneys arising therefrom or otherwise to put out at Interest on Government Securities or otherwise to pay and apply the Interest and Proceed thereof unto my said Grandson John Jarvis and my said Daughter in Law Elizabeth Jarvis for and during the term of the joint natural Lives equally to be divided between them
And after the decease of my said Daughter in Law Elizabeth Jarvis then to pay the said Principal Moneys and all arrears of Interest then due for the same unto my said Grandson John Jarvis

And I do hereby make name and appoint the said Jeremiah Curteis sole Executor of tis my last Will and Testament and also Guardian of my said Grandson John Jarvis during his Minority

In Witness whereof I the said George Jarvis the Elder have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of Paper together affixed set my hand at the bottom of the first sheet and my hand and Seal to this second and last Sheet of Paper this fourth day of February one thousand seven hundred and eighty five

Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said George Jarvis the Elder the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereto subscribed our names as Witnesses in his presence and in the presence of each other the words “or the second Marriage which shall first happen” being first interlined between the fifteenth and sixteenth line(s) of the first sheet of Paper

This Will was proved at London the tenth day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five before the Worshipfull William Marham Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipfull Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Jeremiah Curteis the sole Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattells and Credits of the deceased was granted he having been first sworn duly to Administer.
