Inprimis I will that all my debts which are owing by mee either in right of lawe or conscience,
shalbe truly and faithfully payd and discharged within such reasonable time and tymes as my
Executors with all possible and convenient speed shalbe able to p[er]forme Those
payments of debts to be made out of the sale of my stocke goods Chattells and houshould
and yf it shall not suffize thereunto, then I doe hereby give and grant unto my Executor full power to sell my lands and farme called Welnarden
late purchased of Richard Jervys of Woodchurch, or so much thereof as shalbe hereafter named and bequeathed
Item I give my loving wife in leue of her Joynture xxli [£20] by the yeare during her life, to be yssuinge out of all my other
lands, tenements and hereditaments whatsoever lyinge within the parish of Tenterden, quarterlie by even porcons to be payd, at the feast of our
Lady day, Midsummer, Michaelmas and Christmas the first payment thereof to be had and payd at the next of
the said feasts which shall happen next after my decease by my Executors
And for non payment thereof had after twenty dayes expired next after any of the said feasts in
which it shall grow due and payable It shalbe lawfull to to distreyne according to the nature of the distresses in the lawe allowed and
p[er]mitted withall her reasonable Costs, chardges and expences in that behalf had and susteyned to be allowed unto her
And furder [further] also I doe give and bequeath unto my said wife Joane the Sume of tenn pounds to be payd unto her within six moneths after my decease And also one featherbed, the best (except one), two payer of sheets, two payer of pillows beeres, two feather bolsters, two blanketts, two pillows, one Coverlid, curtaines and Vallence of the best or second to the best with bedstead and matts and whatsoever else is there unto belonginge Together also with all her wearing apparell, rings and jewels whatsoever is or shalbe belonging unto her bodye
Item I give and grant unto my sonne Samuell Jervys one yearely rent of Sixteene pounds by the
yeare during his life to be yssuing out of all my lands, tenements and hereditamanets
before menconed and quarterly to be paid by even porcons at the feasts above named, the first
payment thereof to begin at the first of the said feasts next happeninge after my decease And for
nonpayment thereof within twenty dayes as abovesaid it shalbe lawfull to distreyne according to the right of lawe in nature of distresses with
all his Costs, Charges and expences reasonable in that behalfe had and susteyned to be well and trulye payd him
Also I doe give and bequeath unto him my said sonne Samuell the sume of twenty nobles legacye to be payd unto him by my said Executor within
three moneths next after my decease
And (I) doe further Will and ordayne that my said Executor stand chardged in the lawe to the yearelie payment of these my Annuityes
And that yf it shall fortune my said sonne Samuell to marry and have yssue male of his bodye, that then I will give and grant that the sayd
Annuitye or yearelie rent after his decease shall descend come and remayne unto that heire male, and so to continue from heire
male to heire male for ever with the like Condycons over unto them as is above limitted and
appoynted unto the said Samuell, that is to say the said Annuity of sixteene pounds
And I doe also will and ordayne that my Executors doe wholye pay and dischardge my debts and
legacyes within the space of one yeare next after my decease
Item I give and grant unto my sonne William Jarvys one Annalty [Annuity] or yearelye rent by the yeare of fower m[a]rks to be payd unto him by my Executors quarterly by even porcons as afore are menconed for and during his life, and after his death unto his heires and assignes for ever, the first payment thereof to be made at the first feasts dayes next happeninge after my decease with the like clause of distresse as is above presented
Provyded allwayes that yf he shall not be contented & quiet from suits in lawe but doe sue, trouble, arres(t) or commence any suite in the lawe agaynst my said Executors his sisters whereby they shalbe enforced to be at Coste, Chardges, trobell and damage for or concerninge any things matter or cause whatsoever conteyned or ment to be conteyned in this my said Will and Testament Then and from thence forth my Will and mynde is, that this my gift and graunt of fower mrks by the yeare unto him shall cease determyne and be utterly voyd and of none effect as though the same had bever beene
Item as to all other my lands Messuages Tenements and Hereditaments of what kind or nature
soever withall and singuler their appurtenances whatsoever not before limitted, appoynted to be sold,
or disposed of I give and graunt them and every of them withall and singuler their appurtenances as
aforesaid with every p[ar]te and p[ar]cell of the same unto my loving and obedient daughters Abigall and Mary and to the heires of their
bodyes for ever, equally to be devyded and appointed betweene them the said Abigall and Mary and the heires of their bodyes for ever
And yf any of them shall fortune to dye not havyinge yssue of their bodye, that then the on liver of them shall be as the next heyre and assigne
in the rev[e]rsion and remaynder of all that other pte or porcon wch shalbe or should be allotted unto the deceased, and the heire of her bodye
And (I) doe hereby make and ordayne my sd. daughters Abigail and Mary to be my true and
lawefull Atturney and Executors of this my last Will and Testament,
and my true loveing and good Christian friend Sr. John Scot Knight I doe ordayne and intreate to be the Overseer of this my said Will and
Testament
And if any question, doubt, difference or controversie shall happen to arise in or about this my present will and Testament or any clause or pte of the same, concerninge my mynd or purpose there in by and betweene any of the p[ar]tyes named or interested in the same, Then I will and my mynde is that sayd difference, question, doubt or controversie to avoyd all suits in the lawe shalbe constructed? interpreted derydd [derided] ended and finally adridged ? by my said Overseer Sr John Scot accordinge unto his discretion and judgment
Lastly and finally I doe hereby utterly renounce, revoake and make voyde all former Will and Wills, writtinge and writings, dispo[si]con and dispocons of and concerninge all and everye or any of my goods, Chattells, lands, tenements and hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever made, had, signed, sealed or ment to be had, signed and sealed to all intents and purposes in the lawe whatsoever, Ratifyinge, confirminge and establishinge this my said writinge for my said last Will and Testament for true lawfull and authenticall in to and for all clauses pts and things herein whatsoever, as are heretofore expressed, menconed and declared or indiferently to be constructed and understood by my said Sup[er]visor Sr John Scot

26 Feb 1581/2 William Jarvis married Alice Buttler at Tenterden. Their son William bapt. 28 Apr 1583 at Tenterden;
On 20 Sep 1606, William Jervis, Gentleman of Tenterden, married Joan Poole, Widow of Sellenge [Sellindge], at Smeeth.
